There was a bit more cloud hanging around today but it was
still warm (75F/24C) with a fairly brisk breeze. We enjoyed our morning coffee and then
decided to get our exercises over with.
I made reservations at an RV resort in Indio, California for
when we get back after Christmas. As I
had mentioned earlier, the resort is close to my brother and sister-in-law who
we are looking forward to visiting for a week or so.
Late in the morning, we walked the short distance to say hi
to Earl and Alison who had arrived last night.
They are the couple from Royston on Vancouver Island (BC) that we met
last year and have kept in touch with.
We had some great ATV rides with them and are looking for more rides
this trip. After chatting with them for
a bit, we decided to leave them alone to continue getting set up and we went
for a good power walk. I’d say this is
the first time that I have had a good walk without experiencing a lot of pain
in my lower back (tail bone) and hips since my fall.
After our walk, we decided to drive into Quartzsite...we
would have ridden our ATVs but last night while cooking dinner we ran out of
propane in one of the trailer tanks. Of
course, that was after Steve had already driven in to fill the BBQ tank, so
today we had to get more propane. We
filled the tank at the RV Pit Stop, a “one-stop spot” for RVs to fill propane
tanks, fill fresh water tanks and/or dump black/grey water tanks.
Then we decided to park the truck and wander the open-air
vendors...some have already set up in preparation for the winter season. Not nearly as busy or as many vendors as
there will be come January and the RV show. We parked beside this very cool car...
The Beer Belly Bar (Adult Day Care) was open with only a few
people sitting enjoying a bevy...so we stopped for a beer. Last January when we were here we could
barely find a place to sit...
Love this table...
This area will absolutely be packed come mid-January...
We were back home around 3:00 and I immediately sat down
with the laptop and the GPS...I’m going to try resetting it to see if that will
resolve the problems Steve has been having with it. Earl popped over and we talked to him more
about the issues we were having with it...and found out more about the geocaching
website and how to best download geocaches for the area.
He joined us for a drink and we chatted as the sun went
down...another beautiful sunset. We made
arrangements for a quad ride tomorrow before he headed home...really looking
forward to it!
