Thursday to Saturday, February 27 to 29, 2020 (La Posa South LTVA, Quartzsite, AZ)

Thursday morning, Steve and I were off to the laundromat at 8:45. Once I had the laundry in the machines, I joined Steve in the attached restaurant for breakfast. A nice way to pass the time while the clothes are being washed.

Just over an hour later we were back home...I hung the laundry on the clothesline while Steve pumped and dumped. He was gone so long on his first trip that I was getting concerned that the poop-mobile had broken down...but alas he returned. Unfortunately he had chosen a time at the sani-dump when there was a guy there in a travel trailer that could care less about how long he were taking...20 minutes! Apparently three other rigs dumped while he continued to take his time. That delay really increased the line-up, so Steve decided to wait until tomorrow morning to finish his dumping.

We had our last big gathering around the campfire tonight...sadly, both Dave and Leslie, as well as Jim and Cec are leaving tomorrow. Another hot dog roast...Steve usually cooks my hot dog when he does his but I wasn't ready, so I had to cook my own later! Colan and I by the fire; Jim standing with Cec, Leslie and Dave standing behind by the food table; Allison, Earl, Cindi and Marilyn sitting...
Jim, Colan, Cindi, Marilyn, Sue and Les...
Steve climbed onto the back of the truck to take this picture...starting bottom centre and going left around the circle, Allison, Earl, Roger, Cindi, Colan, Marilyn, Cec, Sue, Les, Jim, me, Leslie and Dave...

Another great evening!

Friday (Feb. 28) was a cloudy day for a change. Jim texted Steve around 8:30 to say he was ready to come over and get started on my quad. The new fuel pump had arrived late yesterday afternoon...whew! We were hoping it would arrive before Jim and Cec left!

Over to Steve...
Some great engineering here. On the left is the fuel pump, but in order to remove it we had to disassemble all the rear plastic body, rack and box! Why not have some sort of flange around the pump to secure the plastic body in that area that can be removed instead of half the quad. On the right we discovered a rodent nest...wonder how long that has been there.
Jim has had to replace his fuel pump a couple of times before so offered to do mine...
Here comes the other supervisor...Earl.
The new pump is the black and blue object next to the white pump housing. The replacement fuel pump was an aftermarket pump, pressure regulator, and strainer made by Quantum for $89. It gave Jim some difficulty putting it back together. I decided to phone Quantum and they assured us it should fit and that a little Vaseline applied to the rubber o-ring should help slip everything back together...it worked. Jim got the pump installed and tested it before putting the quad back together. It fired right up. Thanks so much Jim for all your help and saving us some $$!
With sad faces, and huge hugs, we said goodbye to Dave and Leslie (and Margaret) this morning. Your month here just flew by...and we thoroughly enjoyed our time with you! Enjoy your week in the Palm Springs area...and safe travels as you make your way north.
After saying our goodbyes Steve immediately tested my quad by hooking up the poop-mobile and finishing his dumping that he started yesterday.

Before we knew it, Jim had his side-by-side all loaded up, trailer hitched up...and they were pulling out. It's been great spending time with you guys and all of the quad rides and help! Looking forward to seeing you this summer at the ATV/BC events! Safe travels north...
It was mid-afternoon when we decided to go into town to pick up some parcels at Quiet Times. With that done, we thought we would stop at the vendors and pick up a new outdoor mat. Well, rather than wait until the end of the season, we should have gotten it earlier...they were all sold out of the size we wanted! Steve had also been looking for a heavy-duty telescoping magnet...something to use to pick up nails from around our various boon-docking spots. After finding the mats sold out, we thought he'd be out of luck with that too...but no, he found one at the hardware vendor across from K and B tools.

We finished off our trip into town by stopping for a beer at Beer Belly's...we were right there anyways, so we might as well! LOL!

Saturday (Feb. 29) morning Dale and Ruth picked us up at 10:15 and we headed to the Desert Bar...yup, our second trip! We couldn't believe in all the years Ruth and Dale have been coming to Q that they had never been...but I guess the timing had never been right. We, of course, offered to go with them!

After enduring the 5 miles of super bumpy dirt road, we arrived about 11:30 and couldn't believe how busy it was already! Last time we were here it was a Sunday...today was Saturday.

We grabbed a table and Steve and Dale went to get drinks. After chatting for a few minutes, we decided we should get downstairs and order food before it got too busy...too late, there was already a line up. Steve must have been wondering what was taking so long...he stayed up at the table while the rest of us got lunch. After we finished eating, Steve took a selfie of us...
I also finally remembered to get pictures of the very cool ladies restroom....great view as you wash your hands!
Toilet stalls are built right against the rock-face with heavy steel walls and doors...
The band was good, but not as good as the one last time we had been here with Dave and Leslie. Still had folks up dancing though...
Steve, Dale and  Ruth went for a wander around while I stayed at the table. Steve and Dale climbed up to the top of the hill (Ruth didn't want to attempt it with only flip-flops on)...
There they are!
We watched some 4 wheelers making their way to the bar while the helicopter took off...
A couple of hours later we decided it was time to make our way back out on that bumpy road. There were bumper to bumper vehicles coming in...not the best road for two-way traffic passing each other! But we made it fine with no incidents and after a stop at Safeway in Parker we were on our way home. Another fabulous day...thanks for taking us, Dale and Ruth!

Before they headed home we all had an adult beverage inside our rig, then got a text from Cindi...Happy Hour? Steve replied yes so we got set up outside and before we knew it Cindi and Roger joined us. We'd been watching for Guy and Sue to get back from California and they finally pulled in and popped over to say hi. They will be leaving tomorrow...as I said, our little desert community is dwindling quickly!

  1. Nice view from the Ladies Room! That steel shed you over look is the Men's Room!! You girls just gotta keep tabs on us don't ya!!
So nice to have the expertise to handle nearly any issue that arises in the desert. I'm sure your quad will run much better now. I guess that was the source of the surging issue.
