Thursday and Friday, March 12 and 13, 2020 (Travel to Wine Ridge RV Resort, Pahrump, NV)

We pulled out of our site shortly after 9:00, and after a stop at the sani-dump, we were on our way back towards I-40. We headed east for a short distance, taking the exit onto Goffs Rd,. which is part of Route 66...basically a shortcut over to highway 95. I think some areas have seen better days!
Not much traffic on this highway...trains outnumbered cars!
Just approaching highway 95...
Of course, as we turned north onto highway 95, we were stopped by a long train...
Joshua Trees...
A huge solar farm...
Las Vegas! It's been months since Steve's driven in city traffic...
We followed the directions Serena gave us and managed to make our way through the Vegas area traffic to highway 160...
Beautiful Red Rock Canyon...
Our first glimpses of snow...

There was road construction through most of the mountain pass through Red Rock Canyon! With only a single lane open for miles and miles poor Buster could only climb so fast, so we had a line of traffic behind us.

Approaching Pahrump...
We found Wine Ridge RV Resort and Cottages with no problem. We have been to this resort before but that was in November 2013 (click here for the link to those blog posts)...and it has changed considerably. One of the major changes was that they no longer honour Passport America...so 6+ years ago we paid $12/night. Not so lucky this time...$40/night (minus a 10% Good Sam discount).

As soon as we parked the rig by the office to register, we were immediately greeted by a friendly fellow. He took us into the office where we registered...and then he led us to our site...#409. A full hook-up site...we haven't had full hook-ups since we left Victoria at the end of last November! We did stop at 2 RV parks on our way down but that was only to use the electricity because it was so cold...we never hooked up the water or sewer.
They have a lot more cottages here now...this is the view out our back window. Such a great idea if you have family or friends who don't have an RV...we just have to convince our sons and their families to join us down here sometime!
It started raining through the night...and it rained basically all day Friday! So we had a quiet day inside, working on picture editing and blog updates. We did manage to get out for a walk around the park late in the afternoon...and that was it for the day!

The weather is supposed to improve tomorrow so we plan on getting out...I wonder if we'll be able to find toilet paper here? LOL!

  1. Yes those cottages look nice. They were not there 3 years ago when we stayed there. Too bad about Passport America ... I think they still had it 3 years ago.

  2. Too bad about the Passport America but next time you can look at another park.
Stocking up on a couple dozen rolls is practical. Go on line and you'll see the effects of Hoarders that affect everyone around them.
Be Safe and Enjoy the journey.

    It's about time.
