We have to brave the stores today...not anxious to go out into crowds but we need a few things...in particular, toilet paper as we're down to 1 1/2 rolls!! We started out at Walmart...and were amazed at how empty the shelves were...the toilet paper isle...
...but also others too...no soup among other things.
We got what we could there and then went to Albertson's. It was better...but their produce was limited and what there was, wasn't great...and no TP! Steve walked over to CVS Pharmacy and also the Family Dollar...no TP! We pretty well figured we were going to be out of luck in the TP department when we decided to make one final stop at Smith's.
Steve dropped me off and I went into check...and managed to snafu 3, 4-roll packages. They had a limit of 3 packages.
Fresh snow in the mountains after all of the rain yesterday. We did a guided ride into those mountains on our last visit and went through 4 climate zones...
Back home, I put away our groceries while Steve chatted with the folks next door...and then connected our sewer hose.
We had discovered that friends, Dave and Cheryl were also here in Pahrump...and although we would have loved to meet out in a restaurant for lunch or dinner, we all are hesitant to do that. Next best thing...join us for happy hour at our place. We had another great visit catching up with them! It was great seeing you guys one last time this season...safe travels!
We woke to a mainly cloudy sky Sunday morning...just bits of blue peaking through. Today is our last day here. We have used our time here to research our route home...since we have a good internet signal. Unfortunately, the resort's WiFi isn't that strong but at least our Verizon has a good signal. Oh...and our Verizon Jetpack decided to pack it in yesterday...luckily we have a small data plan on the phone. Hopefully it will get us through the week until we get back in BC.
Since arriving in Pahrump things have been a bit of a bust for us. We lost a day with rain and had planned to go hiking at Red Rock Canyon but didn't want to deal with all the highway construction we passed there. We also wanted to have lunch at Sheri's Ranch Brothel which was highly recommended on our last visit but missed, and maybe hit the Casinos. Instead we have decided to quarantine ourselves as the virus situation seems to be changing rapidly.
Although we don't have to be back in BC until April 1, we have decided to hightail it home...and the best route is to backtrack through to Barstow, to Bakersfield and north on the I-5. It is our least favourite route but the temperatures are too cold, with snow also in the forecast for the other routes and mountain passes. With all that is going on with the Coronavirus (Covid-19), we thought it best to get back home. Besides, when we cross the border we will have to voluntarily self-quarantine for 14 days and I have appointments booked for the first week of April.
About mid morning we decided to get out for a walk. Now for a little tour...
Original cabins as you enter Wine Ridge RV Resort...
Club House and Office...
Club House...
Behind the Office is the Winery and Restaurant (it is not part of the RV Resort anymore)...
Gazebo and vineyard...
Another vineyard in front of the Winery...
Across from the office
Just inside the gate is the Horseshoe Pits and Pickle Ball Courts...
Lower Pool beside the Club House and Office. There's also a stage and BBQ on the left out of frame...
Rows of cabins...42 in total...
RV Wash...
Upper Pool and Spa. Years ago this was the helipad where the rich and famous would fly in from Vegas for dinner...
Nice views from the pool...
It was November 2013 when we got to enjoy the pool and hot tub. Unfortunately it's too cold for swimming on this visit...
We're half way down Chardonnay St. in site 409 on the right...
They have lots of activities as well as Tag-Along ATV/SXS rides Tuesdays...if we hadn't already washed and put the quads away, we might have considered staying longer to partake in a ride. We did last time we were here and had a blast!
After our little tour, I headed up to the laundromat and did 2 loads of laundry. While I was gone Steve flushed the black tank and cleaned the windows and vacuumed the cab of the truck.
Once I was back, had all the laundry put away and the bed made up, we went into town to fill Buster up with diesel...likely our last "cheap" fill at $2.87/gallon, since we will be heading into California.
Steve spent the rest of the afternoon editing pictures and working on this blog while I puttered around getting ready to leave in the morning.
Although we didn't really do much, we have enjoyed our 3 days/4 nights here with full hook ups...just getting caught up on things, researching and planning our trip north.
Safe travels north. If worse comes to worse, you can bribe your way with all of that TP.
ReplyDeleteThanks...we’ll have to keep that in mind!
DeleteI will feel better once your feet land back in BC. :)
ReplyDeleteWe'll be back Friday... weather permitting!
DeleteThat is a great looking park! Nice that you were able to see Dave and Cheryl, good idea to have a stay home happy hour.
ReplyDeleteWe had no idea they were there until we had good enough WiFi to read blogs again.

ReplyDeleteSafe travels home. Hope you miss the snow and rain.
