The campground has a weird rule...visitors to campers staying here must pay $5 for a parking pass to park inside. So, instead of doing that, Chris just parked in the day-use parking lot at the entrance and walked to our site...Steve went to meet him. Less than half an hour later, the cell phone rang again...it was Nadine and Mike; they too were just entering Fort Langley. Steve told them where to park and that he would be down to meet them.
While Steve walked down to meet Mike and Nadine, I put a pot of coffee on while chatting with Chris. He’s doing well in his new job...well, not so new now...he’s been with Capcom over 8 months now. Like us, he too is finding that time is just flying by. He’s very fortunate...he has a good job doing what he loves.
Nadine and Mike arrived carrying a package they had picked up from Rob...a shoe-box full of mail that had accumulated over the past 3 months. Thanks guys...that will keep us busy for awhile! We all sat chatting over coffee...
...and then about an hour later decided to walk into town to The Fort Pub for lunch...
After lunch we wandered along the main street of Fort Langley...a very busy place on a weekend. They are still filming a movie in town (The Christmas Consultant with David Hasselhoff and Caroline Rhea)...the equipment is now set up in a restored heritage house...
Fort Langley Community Hall...
Some street shots...
The Fraser River...(Mike, Nadine, Chris and Dianne)...
...and Nadine, Chris, Dianne and Steve...
The Bedford House Restaurant and Lahaina Bar...
"No Group Photo Without Permission"...well fine! Too funny...
The Fort Pub & Grill...where we had lunch (and where Steve and I have been numerous times to watch Canucks hockey games)...
We walked back across the bridge...yikes, those are ugly looking clouds....
I couldn’t believe it was going on 3:30 when we were back at the parking lot of Brae Island Regional Park where Mike and Nadine had parked their car. They were continuing onto Abbotsford now (they are going to see the Trans-Siberian Orchestra tomorrow night). It was sure great seeing them and after hugs and handshakes, they were off. We will see them again at the end of the month when we head over to Victoria.
Chris came back to the trailer with us for bit. I downloaded an update to his GPS (for some reason his device did not come with a USB cord). While we were sitting visiting, we received a Skype call from Steve’s uncle in Edmonton. We had a great chat with Gord and Esther...too bad they had just missed Nadine and Mike! We had such a great time in Los Cabos with them last November...they wanted to know where we should vacation together this November...hmmm...don’t know if we can make it this November but maybe the following one!
Chris decided it was time for the hour drive back into downtown Vancouver. We walked him back to his car and after big hugs, he was off. It was so good seeing him...and we hope to see more of him over the next few weeks while we are here.
