Wednesday, July 18, 2018 (Travel to Christie's RV, Sault Ste Marie, Ontario)

We had a very relaxing start to the day. After coffee in bed, we got cleaned up and headed down for breakfast. Steve took a few more pictures. The actual slots and tables are housed in separate rooms and these siting areas are along wide curving hallways. Never seen a casino laid out this way.

That's a large gift store behind me...

We checked out of the hotel just before 11:00 and then sat in one of the seating areas near the reception area. We only had to go across the International Bridge and we would be back in Canada. Steve had called Christie's RV late yesterday afternoon to find that they were waiting for a part to come in. So we weren't in any hurry to get back since our trailer wouldn't be ready anyway.

So Steve made himself comfortable in one of the seating areas...with the laptop, working on pictures...so many pictures! We have this past week of fun to blog...but first he has to edit all of the pictures taken!
After a couple of hours, he was finished...and so was I....I was bored because I didn't have anything to do. I can only walk around the casino so many times and I didn't bring a book, my knitting or crocheting. It was good, though, that Steve had managed to get a bunch of pictures done.

After a quick stop at Walmart for a couple of things and a top up of diesel, we headed across the bridge back into Canada. A few final pictures of the locks...

Welcome back to Canada!
We arrived at Christie's RV to find out that the part was expected in by 5:00 tonight and they would install it first thing in the morning. We had told them before we left to contact us by email as we didn't have a US plan on our phone. So what did they do...left us phone messages which we didn't get until we crossed the border today...that's why we are delayed a day waiting for parts.

They said we could spent the night in our rig behind the building...so out we went to open the slides. They even gave us power and water.
It was after 5:30 when a car drove up...it was Lisa and Dave. They were on their way to their camp on Northland Lake and thought they'd drive by to see if we were still here. Their camp is only about 20 minutes or so away...and they invited us to go with them, see their camp and have dinner. Lisa was coming back into town later, so she could drop us off. Awesome guys...sure beats sitting here all evening!

Their "camp" is a house that they have been working on. They have had the property for about 20 years now and by the sound of it, they have made a lot of changes over the years. The house has electricity, plumbing, water (they bring in drinking water), in-house bathroom...basically all the comforts of home! Really roughing it...LOL!
A lovely huge deck overlooking the lake...
...and yard...
They're working on a new dock...
Even a nice little sitting area around a campfire pit...
One of Lisa's gardens...

Lisa barbecued brats from Pino's Market in Sault Ste Marie...freshly made there and fabulous! A delicious dinner!

Our conversation got onto issues with mice. They've been using this solar powered device that sticks in the ground. Every few seconds it vibrates and makes a noise humans don't hear. They say it really works, unfortunately there was no product name on the device or the box.

We visited a little while longer and then we said goodbye to Dave (he was staying at camp) and Lisa, Steve and I headed back into town.

Thanks for a wonderful evening, Dave and Lisa, it was great getting one final (unexpected) visit with you!

  2. You've definitely seen a lot of beautiful scenery and toured some interesting things.
Too bad the RV Shop didn't listen to your instructions. At least it gave you time for another visit.
