Sunday and Monday, November 5 and 6, 2017 (Lone Rock Campground, Lake Powell, Glen Canyon Recreation Area)

Sunday started off with a beautiful sunrise...and it wasn't long after the sun came up when Deb and I were on our way into Page. Yup...shortly after 7:30 the car was loaded with laundry and we were off for a fun filled morning!

While we were gone, Steve cleaned up inside and then he and Ray enjoyed each other's company and "solved the problems of the world!"

We were back home around noon...and after all the laundry was put away, it was time for Steve and I to get out for a ride on the quads. This was Steve's first time using his new Go Pro camera so it was a bit of a learning curve. He unintentionally ended up with some photo bursts with fish eye views. Most of the photos were grabbed from video which was the intention.

The other day while making a garbage run Steve discovered a trail below the upper camping area near the sani dump. He only explored as far as an area that got a little rough, then turned around as he was in flip flops and wasn't wearing a helmet. So today we wanted to explore that trail to see if it continued further up the valley into the canyon.
The trail dropped steeply into a ravine so Steve went ahead to see if it went anywhere while I waited up top. If it looked promising he was going to radio me to join him below.
The ravine continued to narrow...
...until it was too narrow to fit our quads through...
So he turned around and climbed back up the hill...
This was a very soft trail...
See me waiting up top...
With that trail not leading anywhere our only option was to return to the hills to play...
Awesome views from up here...

There is a fence line on the right that runs...
...to the canyon inlet.

This confirmed that the only trails were along the hills behind the beach. Dianne heading up...
Steve's turn...

Houseboats are very popular here...
Down we go...

Dianne coming down...
Up we go...

Here comes Dianne...

Going to check out the spit...
We didn't know there was third houseboat in another bay...

Now we're going to play on some high banked turns. The last time we were here Steve played a little too long on them and felt sea sick for a couple of hours after. This time he only did one run through them all...

Hi Di! Bye Di!

These are a blast!
Time to head home...

That was a fun couple of hours!
By the time we got back from our ride, the wind had really started to whip up. Steve had planned on loading the quads back into the truck but it was just too windy out...so it will have to wait until tomorrow.
The sand is blowing across the lake...
We were planning an appetizer dinner tonight and were hoping to have it outside around the campfire...unfortunately, the strong winds didn't allow for that, so we gathered over at Deb and Ray's. Deb bringing one of the many "courses"...
As usual, we had plenty of good food and great company!

Monday was pack-up day...time to put all of the toys away and get ready to hit the road tomorrow. First the quads...
And then the boat...up...
....and up...
...and Buster's hat is back on!

Steve joined Ray and Deb on a trip into Page to run a few errands, while Freya and I stayed behind. I needed to get caught up on the blog...and budget!

The day ended, as it usually does, with happy hour...this time a short one at our place. We're all looking forward to moving on to new adventures tomorrow!

  1. Quad's! Now there's something I could do... don't ask me why, but I think I'd love that.
