Tuesday and Wednesday, March 1 and 2, 2016 (Travel to Fortuna Do Oro RV Resort, Yuma, AZ and Los Algodones, MX)

Tuesday morning we were up early so that we could enjoy a peaceful cup of coffee before showering and finishing our pack up. Steve was outside putting stuff away when he got one final shot of this fellow flying over...we've seen him often during our stay here...

Well, our plan was to hit the road by 9:30...seems only Red/Pam and Bill/Kelly made that deadline. We still had to say our goodbyes to several friends along the wash. They had pulled out, dumped at the sani-station and were waiting for us when we finally pulled into dump. We quickly dumped our tanks and at 10:10, we all pulled out of La Posa South LTVA...that's it for another season for us!
As we headed south on highway 95, we passed prisoners out cleaning the side of the highway...

...and the turnoff to Yuma Proving Grounds...

We pulled into Fortuna De Oro RV Park shortly after 11:30...the first challenge we had was to find the office. With help from some nice folks in a golf cart, we pulled over in a large paved lot that is apparently the resort's pull-through sites (no thanks!). Following directions, Pam, Kelly and I walked and finally found the office while the guys stayed behind with the rigs. We all got checked in for our free 3 night stay and were transported back to the rigs via a workamper that would be escorting us to our sites.

The park is huge, having 1300 sites, with a lot of park models. Our sites, 947, 948, and 949, are gravel back in sites...close to the freeway, but hey, we have full hookups so are able to run the AC...and...it's free! Red and Pam unhitching...

Our site (949) is at the end of the street...
Bill/Kelly's Rig, Red/Pam in the middle and us on the end...
There is happy hour at one of the pools daily from 3:00 to 5:00, so Steve and I thought we'd go check it out. The temperature this week is forecast to be 88/93F or low to mid 30'sC...shade is required!
Today karaoke was the entertainment...some folks got up to line-dance to one of the tunes (no, I did not jump up to join in!)

Back home, we sat outside in the shade with Red while the others went to do some shopping. Is that a water bottle in Red's hand???
Okay...we thought Red wasn't well. Now he's got a beer!
We had another beautiful Arizona sunset...
The shoppers picked up a couple of roasted chickens from Sam's Club...along with an Asian salad...a perfect, easy dinner for all! Thanks guys!

Wednesday morning at 9:00, we were all on our way to Los Algodones, Mexico. Red, Pam, Steve and I had dentist appointments while Bill and Kelly had new glasses for Kelly to pick up.
We arrived at Bernal Dental Group office a little early for our appointments but were soon called in...because Dr. Bernal had just arrived...nice car, doc...

Steve had a quick cleaning and check up...and then it was my turn. I had a chipped back molar and I was hoping for a quick fix and that would be that...or at the most, a crown. After an exam and x-ray, Dr. Bernal discovered not only did I have a problem with the very back molar, but also the molar beside it was cracked...I would need two crowns. I even attempted a selfie as we waited for the doctor to return (that's his assistant behind me)...

However, that would not be the end of it...as he was prepping the two molars for the crowns, the sharp pain got unbearable while he was drilling, so he stopped and said that I needed to have root canals done before he could continue. Well, I certainly wasn't expecting that! He doesn't do root canals, so I was escorted over to a root canal specialist down the street.

While I was having my two molars worked on, the others wandered around town. This was Red and Pam's first visit...

And stopped for drinks and lunch at El Paraiso

An hour and half later, I was done and back at Dr. Bernal's office where Steve and Red were waiting for me. The others had gone back to Yuma to do some Walmart shopping. I also found out that my dental bill had gone from $550 (including x-rays) to $1150...geez, I wasn't expecting that but at least it was far cheaper than having the work done back home! Steve asked Juan to email their price list, so I thought I''d share it. With two more appointments made (for tomorrow and Friday), we headed off to the purple pharmacy to  pick up prescriptions for antibiotics, anti-inflammation and pain. Crossing the border back into the US was a breeze, with only a few people in front of us. After stopping at a bank for a cash advance to pay for the rest of my dental work, we were back at the RV park at about 3:00. Thanks for driving (and waiting for me) Red, I certainly wasn't expecting to be so long!

Shortly after we got home, the Walmart shoppers also arrived....and then we all decided to walk down to the pool. We joined friends of Red and Pam's...Mike and Dawn, along with their friends, Gary and Deb. Starting with Steve, in front, and going left...Red, Dawn, Mike, Gary, Deb, Bill, Kelly and Pam...

So far, I have had no pain from the work done on my two molars. Stay tuned to see how the rest of the week goes...
