Wednesday and Thursday, August 15 and 16, 2018 (Camping Griffon, Gaspe, Quebec)

We had a tough time sleeping last night...it was just too hot. So we were up shortly after 5:00. The forecast for today was for rain and thunderstorms, so we decided it would be a good day to stay home.

It was extremely hot and humid...so Steve stayed inside working on picture editing in the comfort of A/C. I, on the other hand, made several trips back and forth to the laundromat. I was drenched! They have just a small laundry room...2 washers and dryers, but a good price of $1.50 each.

It was going on noon when we started hearing the boom of thunder. I was on my last trip to pick up laundry when, with the dark clouds, I though, geez, I hope I can get back before the rain starts. I was just finishing folding laundry when the skies opened up with a major downpour. I waited for it to let up a bit and managed to get back between downpours. It pretty well poured all afternoon...with thunder and lightning which I love...

We heard from Laura and John...they had arrived in the campground, but were way at the other end. They would be moving to a site near us tomorrow. Laura popped by while on a walk and got caught in a major downpour, so visited with us for a bit. We made plans to get together for happy hour tomorrow...our last night.

We worked on the blog...and we managed to get another update posted! It's a slow process, but we'll get there eventually!

We woke up Thursday morning much more refreshed...a better sleep last night, thank goodness. The storm yesterday brought much welcomed cooler temperatures.

We ended up spending another day home doing chores. After a morning of researching campgrounds, we decided on our next 4 stops, so I managed to make reservations at all...we now have the next 10 days booked.

Steve spent most of the day outside flushing holding tanks and taking care of a bunch of odds and ends. Once done outside, he came in and worked on more picture editing I did one final load of laundry and worked on another blog

John and Laura arrived into the site near us...a back-in site on the cliff overlooking the water. So we went over and joined them for happy hour...they had a much better view at their site than we had at ours!
John and Laura live full time in this small motorhome...good on them, I certainly couldn't!
Picture taken from the fence...it's a long way down there!
We spent a great couple of hours chatting with them and then went home for dinner...returning afterwards to enjoy a campfire. We really enjoyed meeting Laura and John...always great sharing stories with fellow full-time RV'ers!

  1. Not much worse than hot and humid nights where you are not able to sleep! We had an AC unit installed in our bedroom when we ordered our rig. We have only used it a handful of times but we are very thankful we have it when we need it!
