A barachois is a term used in Atlantic Canada and Saint Pierre and Miquelon and Mauritius Island to describe a coastal lagoon partially or totally separated from the ocean by a sand or shingle bar. Salt water may enter the barachois during high tide.

We have found that the folks back east here really like their lawns...Steve figures a good business to be in here would be selling and servicing riding lawn mowers. We've passed so many homes with acres of meticulously manicured lawns much larger than this...
As we've mentioned before, there are not many spots for a big rig to pull off along this highway so we've been forced to seek out shopping centre and church parking lots. Lunch time in front of the Catholic Church of Saint-Siméon-de-Bonaventure.

Goodbye Quebec...crossing the Restigouche River into Campbellton, New Brunswick...(we also crossed another time zone...we are now on Atlantic Time, loosing an hour. That's 4 hours ahead of our BC time)...
Our destination on the upper right...RV Camping, Campbellton, a municipal campground....
The bridge we just came over...
We stopped to register and were greeted with very friendly folks. This is a very nice building with an interpretive centre, boutique and restaurant...we'll have to come back and check it out another time.
We made our way to our site #51, a full hook-up site with 30 amp power, and levelled off, unhitched and got set up. The campground is right on the river with a lovely walkway all along the waterfront. It not very busy here right now...lots of empty sites...
After our work was done, we set the chairs up and enjoyed the view....
Another lovely campsite. Too bad your back window is not facing the water.
ReplyDeleteThat's exactly what we thought. Good for motorhomes, though :)
DeleteAren't those windmill blades huge?!?! When you see them in the field you don't realize it but when you pass them on the road they seem to go on forever.
ReplyDeleteThey are huge!
DeleteCute town. What? No time for a brew? I like the campsite too!
ReplyDeleteI know! Too bad we were towing!
