Thursday and Friday, August 9 and 10, 2018 (A "down day" and Travel to Parc et Mer, Mont-Louis, Quebec)

It was another cold, rainy, foggy day today...similar to the day before yesterday but more rain. At least we had good weather on our hike in Bic National Park! But it lent itself well to what needed to be done...more picture editing! So Steve spent most of his day doing that while I finished the book I had been reading.

We managed to get out for a bit of a walk in the afternoon but it was pretty short...we actually thought we'd try having coffee at the small restaurant in the submarine museum building but it was busy and I don't image they would have appreciated us taking up a table and only have a cup of coffee. So back home we went...and that was pretty well our day.
Friday was travel day...it was been a great boondocking spot but after five nights, it's time to move on. We pulled out shortly after 9:00 and continued along the scenic highway 132. As usual, I took pictures along the way...it was a cloudy day...We had to use our old Olypus backup camera because the battery in our good one was dead. For some reason if the battery is left in the Nikon even after a charge it drains the battery so we have to remember to leave the battery out until we need to use the camera...
La Suggestion sur Mer in Mont-Joli...
The Deco Suggestion is a gift shop and an interior decoration shop under the same roof...

Another very shallow shoreline...
WOW! Look at the size of that house! Quite the estate...
Wind turbines....
We seem to be driving out of the clouds...nice to see blue sky with a freighter in the distance...
A cute little boutique and souvenir store just before Mutane...
Matane Tourist Information Centre...
Mutane River...

The drive along the coast is beautiful...especially with blue sky!
But it's really windy out!

Sainte-Félicité...

Grosses-Roches...

Another green shoreline...

Nearing Cap-Chat....cool name for a village...
Although we're not religious, we love the different architecture of the old churches...
Cap-Chat River that goes into Cap-Chat Bay...
Just past the river inlet, was a rest area that was actually big enough for us...perfect stop for lunch! That's us at the end, on the right. I think we only ever saw one other one that would fit us but it was much smaller than this one. We eventually just started using shopping centre and church parking lots...
As you can tell from the jeans, coat and hat, that wind was chilly!

Ste-Anne River...

I know...so many coast pictures! But it is just so beautiful!
Musée des Phares (Museum of Lighthouses)...
The lighthouse of La Martre, jewel of the Gaspé coast, stands proudly on its natural promontory, close to the church, offering the originality of its octagonal frame structure wood caressing the sun and the bite of winds. Discover the rotation of the lighting module which is still ensured by the clock system of operational origin since 1906.
Marsoui River...

Approaching the Village of Rivière-à-Claude...

Approaching Mont-Louis...

Nice old car...
Mont-Louis River...

First glimpse of our destination...
We pulled into Parc et Mer Mont-Louis Campground around 1:00. We had reserved site #20, so after registering, we made our way into the site.
Our site is on the grass with beautiful views of the St. Lawrence River. It has full hook-ups (30 amp) and free WiFi (with good service). The sites are close together but you have lots of room to sit out behind the rig where the view is. We got all set up, including the satellite dish...no problem getting a signal here. We have no idea why we were unable to get one at Pointe-au-Pere.

After all  the work was done, we both had much needed showers and then went out for a short walk. Unfortunately, the clouds have caught up with us...such a windy day! That's us centre-right...
 View from our back window..
The view beside the motorhome in the above picture. They also have tiny little cottages for rent...
We sat outside admiring the view for a while, but the wind got chilly and we retreated inside. It started raining a short time later, around dinner time. But we had a beautiful sunset!

We have posted the majority of the pictures, however, if you'd like to view the full album, click "Travel to Mont-Louis, QC"
