Wednesday, April 5, 2017 (Travel to Valley River Center, Eugene, OR)

We were up bright and early after a restless night...Steve said he slept well, but as is the norm in truck stops, I found the truck reefers noisy. We walked over to the casino, had coffee and a muffin and then were on the road before 7:00.
The Sacramento River again...

Driving past Shasta Lake...the water level after all the rains this winter is the highest we have ever seen it.
I wanted to add a picture from a few years ago showing how low the lake usually is but unfortunately, I'm experiencing laptop problems where it "freezes up". I'm just hoping that I'll be able to get our blogs up to date before it dies on me totally. I have a replacement hard drive waiting at Rob's house, but we are not going over there for another couple of weeks.

Lots of beautiful bushes in bloom along the edge of the highway...

A small volcano near Mt. Shasta...
Colourful trucks!
We stopped at the rest stop near Weed, CA that has a small airstrip next to it...with a great view of Mt. Shasta....

Oregon!
Nearing the Siskiyou Pass Summit...

More blooms...
We passed by Seven Feathers Casino...one day we will have to stop there but it never seems to be the right distance when we drive by....
South Umpqua River...

A tiny house on the road...

Just over 8 hours and 606 km/379 miles later, we arrived at our destination for the night...Valley River Center in Eugene, OR. A great free spot beside the Willamette River. The mobile security checks you in and you're allowed 2 free nights and after that it's $50 per night...
Lots of room...

We got set up for the night and then decided to go out for a walk across the river. There is a great bike/walking path that goes along either side of the river for miles...

Unfortunately, it didn't end up being much of a walk because my foot decided to give me grief again...sheesh!
That's our rig behind the trees...

View out our side window...
Security is constantly patrolling...
There's a shopping mall, movie theatre, brew pubs and lots of nice restaurants in the area within walking distance but we chose to just relax at home...we had more beer and wine than we're allowed to take across the border, so rather than go spend money out, we stayed in. We have spent plenty of $$ lately anyway....
