Saturday and Sunday, December 19 and 20, 2015 (La Posa South LTVA, Quartzsite, AZ)

We woke up to the blue skies of Arizona Saturday morning...after a good sleep in our own bed. Cabo already seems like a distant, sweet memory!

Bob called early to invite us out on a quad ride with them...we decided to take a rain-check since we have what seems like a hundred and one things to do today, our first day back home.

After breakfast Steve worked on a few things outside...basically organizing the things he had  put away, and now had to get back out. He went over to Art and Jan's place and brought the quads back over...we had left them locked up over there while we were gone. He also took a ride around our area scouting out open campsites...we have friends, Ray and Deb arriving today, as well as Jim and Barb Monday.

Ray and Deb pulled in late morning...Steve led them to a nice spot on the wash just a little ways down from us. A good find...some folks had recently left the spot, so good timing.

Steve spent part of the afternoon wiring up the new macerator pump we had picked up on our way home yesterday. He also fired it up briefly...seems to work okay, no blown fuses this time round.

While he was doing that, I did some budget work...paying bills, etc...yuck! I also downloaded all of the pictures taken over the past couple of weeks. Steve has his work cut out for him...he has to edit them all before I can get started on the blog.

Just after 4:00 we loaded some food and drinks into a box that Steve had secured to the quad and we headed down to visit Ray and Deb...they had also invited us over for dinner. We never turn down a meal prepared by chef Debbie! I had the easy part...mashed potatoes and salad. She was doing a Prime Rib Roast!

Cocktails outside in the late afternoon sun...
Then inside as Deb put the finishing touches on dinner. I enjoyed a cuddle from my bud, Freya...
Sitting down to enjoy a delicious dinner...
It was a great evening, complete with a wonderful meal...so good catching up with you guys! "Crafty" Deb made us Christmas Trees,,,,a lovely Christmas gift, complete with a bottle of wine for me and two cans of Kilt Lifter Beer for Steve...that "hold up" the trees. Thanks! A nice addition to our growing collection of Christmas decorations!
We hadn't been back home for long when the telephone rang...it was Bob inviting us out on a quad ride tomorrow. Wow, guys, that's three days in a row! We'd love to join you!

So Sunday morning, with our quads all packed with water and lunch, we headed over to Bob and Sue's at 10:00. It was another beautiful morning, although a tad bit chilly. There were five quads (Bob, Art, Casey (Art/Jan's granddaughter visiting for a few days), Steve and me) and Sue in her RZR side-by-side. (Click on photos to enlarge)
One of many stone cabins in the area...
Yup, I found the geocache that Bob had placed in here...
All lined up for a picture...
Bob even brought Santa along for a ride on his quad...he has to hang off the front though...
Our next stop was at Erdman Mine...
We're heading over Deere Run today...

A stop at another mine along the way...

An old dynamite bunker...
We're going way up there...

Time for lunch at Deere Run...

Bob practicing a few shots...
After lunch, we continued on towards Dome Rock...
A lonely Saguaro on the hilltop....

Someone abandoned an old motorhome...sheesh...

Covered mineshaft...
We crossed under the freeway at Dome Rock Road and continued on towards Diablo Pass...

We stopped for a break and to admire the views in both directions...

We'll be continuing down there...
...and that's where we came from...

We stopped at another old mine site...

We came out at Marble Mine and then headed south, home. We stopped to take pictures of this tiny house trailer being built in La Posa West...

It was going on 4:30 by the time we got home...wow! what a great day! So good to be back out on the quads enjoying the beautiful desert scenery! The day even ended with a stunning sunset...
