Monday, December 21 to Saturday, December 26, 2015 (La Posa South LTVA, Quartzsite, AZ)

Monday morning Deb picked me up at 9:00 and we headed to Parker to do some grocery shopping. We hit Walmart, Safeway, Food City (used to be Basha's)...and also had a lovely lunch out. I really enjoyed the day...it was so nice getting out with a girlfriend for a change!

It was about 2:30 when we got back, Deb dropped me and my groceries off and then left me to put my stuff away while she went home to do the same. Steve was down visiting Ray after filling the trailer with water...good timing, honey, could have used you to help lug the bags out of the car...LOL!

We had noticed a new addition to our little community...and I later found out it was Jim and Barb (Jim and Barb's RV Adventure). Oh, okay, we know you....you're allowed to be close to us! (truth be known...they really aren't that close...LOL) Steve had met them on the main road and led them in. Jim disconnected his quad trailer from their jeep then followed Steve on his quad on a little tour of the area to see if there was another spot that they would have preferred. Nope...they were happy where they were.

We had Jim and Barb over for happy hour, along with Ray. Deb joined us a little later after the company washing their rig had left. Jim and Barb are "RV Dreamers" that we met briefly last year when they stopped by...and have been following each other's blogs since. Looks like this year they are hunkering down here for a little longer....good to see them!

By Tuesday, Steve had gone through all of Cabo pictures...that meant it was my turn to take over and get started on writing our journal for the two fabulous weeks we had. Good grief...I think this is going to take awhile!

When we had been out on our ride last Sunday, Steve noticed that my quad was leaking oil all over the front end...big time! So he thought he'd see if he could figure out where it was coming from. There is a tube just above that large open tubular gizmo that appears to be the source. He thinks it's the vent tube that comes from the rear differential. His quad did the same thing a couple of years ago and the dealer in Lake Havasu said the differential had been over filled on it's last service. Funny thing is though we had attended many ATV events in BC that year with no leaks and had put on around 1400 km. It's the same scenario with my quad and strangely it's only happened here in Quartzsite both times. Bob down the road is always fixing and tinkering on theirs and Art's machines so we'll have to see what he thinks. My quad had also been stalling out when idling so Steve changed the spark plug. He had also discovered a tube that had come off of some other gadget near the air filter so fixed that too.

We invited Deb and Ray over to our place for a rib dinner tonight...okay, I'm not quite the gourmet cook she is, but I think I managed okay...as long as it is simple fare! LOL! Steve say's my ribs are awesome, but these were precooked and marinated from the store and weren't nearly as good. We had another fun evening spending time with them.

Wednesday was laundry day. I had planned on doing it yesterday but it was cloudy and windy...and just plain not nice out. Today, it was still a little breezy but the sun was shining! We got a pretty early start and were back home and had it on the line...with most of it dry by 1:30.
We left the last bit on the line and headed off with Jim and Barb into Quartzsite to show them around and give them "the lay of the land". Of course, we had to introduce them to Beer Belly's Adult Day Care!

More fellow RV Dreamers, Ruth and Dale, arrived in La Posa South on Monday as well, and we had them over for happy hour this evening, along with Jim and Barb. We had a great visit and after a couple of hours, we called it an evening...good seeing you again, Ruth and Dale! Hope to connect with you again when you are back in Q...next month?

Thursday, Christmas Eve day...already?! It was a beautiful day...and not windy...as we headed over to gather Jim and Barb. We're going to show them more of the area...this time we were on our quads and Jim and Barb in their side-by-side.

Jim and Barb checking out an old mine digging at Tyson Wash...
Mortar holes in Tyson Wash where Indians would grind seeds...
Jim and Steve had just finished exploring quite a ways into and old mine not far from the Erdman Mine

 Barb looking for the geocache...

Exploring the old mining operation next to the hill with the big Q on it that overlooks the town...

Kofa Wilderness area in the distance...
The other side of the hill has the Q on it...
We were only out for a few hours but it was a good start for Jim and Barb getting to know the area...

We had a quiet Christmas Eve...just the two of us...thinking about family and our old traditions. Steve, Rob (and Angie, once she and Rob got together), Chris and I used to spend Christmas Eve playing Rummoli, while enjoying a few bevies and eating all sorts of appetizers. Chris would usually be home (from Vancouver) for the week and would have downloaded complete seasons of Sons of Anarchy and Dexter...and we'd watch episode after episode. And when we weren't doing that we'd have golf and bowling tournaments on the Wii. Fond memories...but we have all moved on and both boys now have their own lives and families...and new traditions to create.

Christmas morning, 2015 started off with a beautiful sunrise...
We had our usual start to the day and then just as I was thinking about Rob, Angie and the kids, we heard the familiar bing, bong of a Skype call...it was them! It was so special seeing them and watching Conner and Bryce open their Christmas gifts we got them...of course, Bryce had a little help from Conner who was more than willing to open presents! This is our second Christmas away from family...perhaps next year we'll fly home?? Good thing we have our RV family here in Q!

Upon their arrival here last week, one of the first things Deb and Ray did was to ask us if we'd like to join them for Christmas Dinner. What we hadn't expected was to be "doubly" spoiled and invited for brunch as well! So at 10:00, we walked down to their place and after "Merry Christmas" greetings, we chatted over coffee with Bailey's...
And then Deb got to work on preparing Eggs Benny...
...while Ray poured champagne and fresh squeezed orange juice (great mimosas!)...
 ...and I waited in anticipation!
 Yum!

After a delicious brunch, we headed home...stopping on the way to wish Bob and Sue, as well as Brian, a very Merry Christmas.

Once home, we had another Skype call...from Chris and Angela. Again, wonderful seeing and chatting with them. Today is Angela's first time cooking a turkey...good luck, I'm sure it will be wonderful! Wishing you both...and all of the Marzitelli family a very Merry Christmas!

I was bound and determined to get our two week in Cabo blog done and posted today...so that is basically what we did. After Steve added his "2 cents", I had one final review and then pushed the "publish" button!

After that was done, we made a quick visit over to Art and Jan's and then to Jim and Barb's to wish them all Merry Christmas. Then I had to get home to finish the dishes I was preparing for dinner tonight.

It was 4:30 when we loaded all of our "goodies" into a box (boy the heavy duty Costco box they packed our groceries in last week has sure come in handy!) and headed down to Ray and Deb's, walking this time.

Ray put on his special Christmas Tie...
We sat and chatted over a cocktail and before we knew it, it was time to fill our plates...Yum!
Cheers! To good food and good friends!! Merry Christmas!
Deb and Ray's rig is really decked out for the Holiday Season...inside and out!
After a delicious turkey dinner with all the trimmings, Steve and I (aka "the elves") did the dishes...and then it was time for dessert...Pecan Pie with whipped cream...along with Amaretto liqueur too!

Ugh...I think I ate too much...and now I have a beer to finish...plus a shot of Amaretto?!!

Steve got a shot of the full Christmas moon through the trees...

We waddled home at about 8:00...after eating and drinking way to much! But, it had been a wonderful day...thanks so much, Ray and Deb for inviting us to share Christmas Day 2015 with you!

Wind and dust was the order of the day Saturday (or Boxing Day to us Canadians). At one point the winds were gusting to 49 mph....

Steve even tried moving the truck over to the other side of the trailer in hopes that it would block the wind a bit...didn't really make much difference, so we just had to deal with a very shaky trailer and noisy slide toppers...

So we had a quiet "inside" day today...I continued working on the blog while Steve read (and snoozed).

We received a Skype call in the afternoon from Steve's sister and brother-in-law...Merry Christmas, Nadine and Mike! Sounds like they had a nice day yesterday...they went to Rob and Angie's for dinner. Great talking to you both...and reminiscing about the last time we saw you...in Cabo!
