We had beautiful blue sky today...a perfect Christmas Day on the desert! Unfortunately, though, it was quite breezy....definitely going to need that shelter that the guys constructed yesterday for our dinner gathering! After our usual start to the day, I put together a layered salad for our Christmas dinner this afternoon.

Although the internet is not great, we decided to try video calls with the kids...it was choppy and slow but still great seeing and chatting with Chris, Angela and Issac...and then Rob, Angie, Conner and Bryce. Miss being there this year...we'll definitely try for next Christmas!

We received a text from Earl around 10:00 telling us to come over anytime...they had invited us over to share in their Christmas morning tradition... champagne and orange juice. Abby greeted us at the door...here she is posing with her new Christmas present...
Earl carefully popped the cork on the champagne bottle and started pouring...not sure what I thought was so funny but I think it had something to do with the cork popping...
Cheers!
We enjoyed an hour chatting and then realized that both Earl and I have to get our turkey in the oven. Earl had picked up a 15 lb turkey and had the butcher cut it in half...making it easier for each of us to cook half in our RV ovens. It worked perfectly!

While I was busy inside, some of the others were over at the shelter preparing it for our dinner...Steve moved our solar Christmas lights over to outline the top of the shelter, Barb brought out their Christmas tree, table clothes, etc...and with all the tables organized, we will have a sit-down dinner, awesome!

Barb and Jim's Christmas tree...yes, it is a real tree! Along with the start of our liquor table (it eventually got much bigger!)...
We did our best to co-ordinate everything being ready at the same time...and we did a pretty good job! Earl with his half of the turkey, Allison with the stuffing and cranberries, Cec and Jim with vegetables, Lisa and Dino with mashed potatoes, and me with turkey, gravy and salad. Just double-checking the turkey temperature to ensure it's cooked...and wow did the trailer ever smell good all day!
And shortly after 2:30, we were ready! A pre-dinner picture...left to right around the table, me, Jim, Cec, Lisa, Dino, Earl, Allison, Jim and Barb...
And then it was time to dig in!
 Yum!
As we were all eating, Cec happened to look up just as a gust of wind ballooned the tarp knocking over the small table holding the mashed potatoes, gravy and salad (the table at the bottom of two pictures above). I guess the table was placed just a little too close to the tarp, and being smaller and lighter than the other, it just went over taking the mashed potatoes, salad and gravy. Jim was disappointed...he was just about to go up for seconds of the salad. Oh what the heck...5 second rule right LOL! Luckily we managed to save most of the potatoes.
Then it was dessert time...Barb out did herself with key-lime pie and a delicious raspberry dish. We also enjoyed rum cake courtesy of Marilyn...she had made it for us just before she and Colan left to visit family...
After a wonderful Christmas dinner, it was time to circle the fire pit and get a fire going!
We stayed out until around 8:00...enjoying great company and a few adult beverages (apparently I got very chatty...must have been the red wine LOL)...
And that was Christmas Day 2019...a perfect day!

    1. I know!...she posed so perfectly for it! At least it wasn't the rest of the turkey that went over onto the ground! Yes, Dave...that's it, the joy of the season! We'll stick with that story LOL!
