Thursday, March 29 to Tuesday, April 3, 2018 (Peace Arch RV Park, Surrey, BC)

Well...we have been back in BC for a week now and it has been a very restful week. Honestly, we have enjoyed basically hunkering down...and doing very little!

Thursday was spent editing pictures and working on blog updates. We managed to get out for a walk around the campground and also made a quick trip to a nearby Telus store to pick up a sim card for Steve's cell phone (to replace the card that I lost when we switched in the Roam Mobility sim card). Note: We eventually got rid of Roam Mobility, switching to Verizon, as it was useless unless you were in a larger populated area.

At 4:00, Ray picked us up...he and Deb have invited us over for dinner tonight and Ray offered to come pick us up. A big thank you, Ray, for being our chauffeur! As usual, we had a fabulous dinner and a wonderful visit...

So great catching up with you both! All the best in the sale of your Dad's home...and the purchase of your new place on Lake Cowichan (on Vancouver Island)! Looking forward to visiting you there!

Friday...and another quiet day...more work on blog updates...and another walk around the campground.

Saturday we slept in until almost 7:00 a.m.! Wow, it has been awhile since we've been able to do that! The morning slipped by quickly...coffee, resistance exercises (we finally decided to get back into that routine!), breakfast and showers...next thing we knew, it was after noon.

We made a trip to Walmart to pick up a few things and then after a stop at a BC Liquor Store (ugh...back to Canadian liquor prices!), we were back home.

Sunday...Happy Easter everyone!...we headed into Coquitlam around 2:00 for a visit with our son and daughter-in-law, Chris and Angela. After catching up for a couple of hours, we all headed over to Angela's parents for Easter dinner.

Angela's dad, Luigi grilling up some lamb...
Dinner time! First course...Lucy's delicious lasagne. Followed by ham, roasted potatoes, peas, salad...and Luigi's favourite, lamb. Left to right around the table...Lucy, Angela, Marc (Angela's brother), Nonna (Grandma), Joey (Angela's brother), Amanda (Joe's fiance), Danny and Marion (Amanda's parents) and me....
Luigi goofing off...Chris on the left...and Lucy on the right....
A fresh fruit platter...and Lucy's fresh baked Lemon Meringue Pie finished off dinner.
A wonderful dinner and great visit! Thanks so much for your hospitality, Luigi and Lucy!

Monday morning we decided that a walk along the beach in White Rock would be nice...but we thought we would wait a bit until it warmed up. As the morning wore on, Steve finally got very frustrated with his old iPad and decided it was time to replace it...so we ended up going to Best Buy and picking up one. So much for our walk at the beach...but then, it wasn't all that warm of a day and it would have likely been much colder with the wind at the beach.

Tuesday was laundry day...so that's how I spent my morning. Steve decided to start researching our route east this summer. We did manage to get out for a walk around the campground...Steve got this picture of our site while we had no immediate neighbours. The empty sites didn't last long...by the end of the day, we had new neighbours...
At 4:00, Deb and Ray arrived for drinks and dinner. I tried a new recipe in my Instant Pot...Butter Chicken....

Another great evening...catching up with good friends!

Tomorrow we are heading over to Vancouver Island and a visit with Rob, Angie and our grandkids! Of course, we have some appointments scheduled in there too!

  2. Settling right in! Those Italians know a meal! How nice to be back with family and friends. How’d the chicken turn out? Does it call for s stick of butter?

    1. You got that right! You never go hungry when you're at an Italian home for dinner!
The butter chicken turned out pretty good but the sauce was a little watery. It called for a stick of butter (yum) and heavy cream (no calories in this recipe!) :)
I have another similar recipe for Chicken Marsala that I think I'm going to try next time.
