Well, I guess it's about time I got around to another blog update...finishing up our week at Yuma!
Wednesday was a sunny day but still a bit cool...warmer than yesterday, though. Steve and I thought it was about time we got a little exercise, so managed to get out for an "early" morning walk around the resort.
Today was "get your rig washed day"...Red had arranged for all three of us to get our fifth-wheels and/or trucks washed. Red and Harry also had their fifth-wheels waxed. We had both our fifth-wheel and truck washed, but not waxed...$1 per foot to wash or $3 per foot wash and wax!
While that was going on outside, I was inside working a blog update.
Around 3:30 we walked up to the pool area and joined Larry, Judi, Red, Pam...and their friend from Texas, Stan, who had just arrived today...
Steve peered over the fence and took a picture of the golf course...
We decided to head into the restaurant/lounge early to get a table for the 9 of us. Steak and Bottomless Shrimp is the special tonight and it fills up very quickly...not to mention it's also karaoke tonight too!
Left to right around the table...Harry, Vicki, Red, Pam, me, Steve, Judi, Larry and Stan...
Vicki, Red and Pam...who is getting right into the singing! LOL...
The room is packed...
Pam up dancing and singing...there's no holding her back once the tunes start!
Red horsing around with our camera...nice shot, Red!
A thorn between 2 roses... :-)
Red was trying to get a picture of us with the moon behind us...seems like he got more of a reflection in the window...the moon is above me and the palm tree...
This fellow sang an Elvis song and did an excellent job!
Pam and Red having a romantic dance...
Lots of folks up dancing...wherever they could find a spot!
Me, Steve and Harry...(thanks for the pic Vicki!)
We all had a blast! Dinner was good, drinks were good...and the company great!
Thursday morning Pam and I headed out on a shopping trip, stopping for Judi as we went by their place. We enjoyed a wonderful day of checking out the shops at Las Palmillas Shopping Center/Yuma Palms Regional Center...from Hobby Lobby, to Kohl's to Beale's! Lunch at Chili's and then a quick stop at Chico's...and then time to head home. Wow, that was a fast day!
While I was gone, Steve went to the RV/hardware store to get hangers for mounting his planes inside the truck box and a replacement plastic door slide assembly for the trailer, then did a little maintenance of the trailer...resealing a couple of windows...
Darrell and Kelly, friends from BC, joined us for happy hour this afternoon. They are staying at Fortuna del Oro, not far from here. We had hoped to visit them last summer when we headed to an ATV event in northern BC but with the terrible wildfires in BC last summer, the event was cancelled...and besides, they were evacuated from their place for 6 weeks. Luckily when they returned home, they found that their place had been spared by the fires...loosing just the contents of the refrigerators and freezers due to the power being out.
A couple of para-gliders flying by...
Left to right...Red, Pam Stan, Steve, Kelly and Darrell...
After a couple of drinks and appies, we had pizza delivered...who wants to cook dinner anyway? It was great catching up with you, Kelly and Darrell...see you next week at the RV-Dreams Boondocking Rally in Q!
Friday morning we all headed off to the Yuma Market...
We all basically went our own way, agreeing to meet back at the entrance in about an hour and a half. I picked up a pair of Dawg sandals which I have been wanting to get....and of course, I looked at a ton of other stuff, but I only had one bag in hand when I met up with everyone at the allotted time. Mind you, before leaving I went with Vicki to a little shop that I had missed which sold all sorts of jams, jellies, nuts, seeds and dried fruits and picked up a couple of things.
Next on our agenda was lunch...so off we went to Eat Asian Super Buffet...and "super" is right! They really don't say much about the actual buffet on their website but wow, what a spread...and at a very reasonable price...$8.99 for seniors. Unfortunately, no pictures of us "chowing down" were taken this time.
We were back home with plenty of time left in the afternoon for me to gather our laundry and head over to the laundry facilities. As far as I can tell, there are three laundry buildings in the resort. The one closest to us was a large building with lots of machines in good working order.
Late afternoon we all gathered for happy hour at Red and Pam's before having a light snack and heading to the Friday night dance at the club house.
The band tonight played 'Old Time Rock 'n Roll...from 7 pm to 10 pm ($5/person). Larry had reserved a table of 8 in advance...thanks Larry!

Another great night out!
Saturday morning Steve and I were up and out early...well...by 9:00. We had some errands and grocery shopping we wanted to get done before heading off into Yuma for lunch.
After a quick stop at the RV Super Store, we went to Fry's, filled up with diesel ($2.64/gallon) and then I went in to do my grocery shopping.
We were back home by 11:00, giving me enough time to get the groceries put away before we walked down to Harry and Vicki's to grab a ride with them to Prison Hill Brewery in Old Town Yuma. We met fellow RV-Dreamers, Dave and Diane and Allen and Donna there for lunch. We met up with Dave and Diane last December in Casa Grande and as luck would have it, they were also here in Yuma for a week...so one final visit with them before we head north. Allen and Donna have purchased a park model in Yuma so are now part timers. We will get to connect with Allen and Donna again next week at the RV-Dreams Boondocking Rally in Quartzsite. Non-RV Dreamers, Larry, Judi and Stan also joined us.
Left to right around the table...Red, Pam, Allen, Donna, me, Steve, Larry, Judi, Vicki, Harry, Diane, Dave and Stan...
We enjoyed another great lunch with great friends!
Since today was our last day in Yuma, one final visit to the pool was in order. We met Pam there...
Ahhhh.....
The 3 of us enjoyed the sunshine, pool and hot tub...along with a cocktail and then headed home to get changed and have one final happy hour and then dinner at the restaurant (yup...lots of eating out this week!!)...
We thoroughly enjoyed our week at Westwind RV and Golf Resort. Although the sites are a little tight, the rest of the facilities were great and the folks working there are very friendly.
Wow, that is a busy week! Looks like you all had a great time. Nice that you were able to meet up with the Ferg's as well as Dave and Diane. Enjoy the boondocking rally!
ReplyDeleteAll this socialization is quickly coming to an end...once the rally is over we're on our own!
DeleteYikes you guys keep busy! I'm still lounging in my jams as I write this at 11:30(!) So much fun! I almost didn't recognize Dave without his signature hat on! Tell me more about re-doing the calking on the windows please. We need to do that. Did you scrape out the old black stuff, tape off then re-calk? What calk exactly did you use? Was it difficult? Have fun at the rally!
ReplyDeleteBusy for sure! I use a plastic scraper designed for removing the old silicone then wipe the area with mineral spirits, then tape the area off. In the past I just used the regular silicone for outdoors but a friend from back home http://www.loveyourrv.com had recommended using ProFlex Sealant so it's the first time using it, so we'll see how it holds up. It's not a difficult job, just time consuming getting all the old sealant off and taping. I'd rather be doing something else but it can't be fun all the time! 😜
DeleteIt's a good thing you are at the Rally, it might give you a chance to breathe, you definitely keep busy.
ReplyDeleteBe safe and Enjoy!
It's about time.
I think we'll get our chance to breath after the rally and we're on our own heading back to BC. 🙂
DeleteHello, I just started reading your blog and I am really enjoying it. I have been going back through some of the older post. You have some great pictures. Thank you for sharing -
