Thursday morning we woke up to clear blue sky...just beautiful! After our usual start to the day, we had breakfast and then Steve headed out to offload the quads...he and Doug are going riding today! Doug is using my quad.
And they're off...
Leighton Lake in the distance...
Fabulous views from atop Savona Mountain...
Qverlooking Kamloops Lake...
The village of Savona below,,,
The Thompson River in the distance...
Lets ride!
Back in behind Leighton Lake...doing the loop trail around Tunkwa Provincial Park...
Doug taking a picture of Steve taking a picture of Doug...
In the distance,,,Leighton Lake left and Tunkwa Lake right...
What a beautiful day!
Doug has only ridden once before when they went out last April and thought the deep ruts in a snow covered trail was a challenge. The pucker factor was about to kick in for Doug's first hill climb. Pictures do not accurately convey how steep the hills really are...
Did it!
Okay Doug...you can do it!
So far so good...
At a boy Doug!
Okay Doug...I promise, this is the last one. We just have to make it down, cross the highway, then climb the hill on the other side...
Go for it Doug!
Nice!
Okay Doug...you can relax now and just take in the views...
Arriving back at Leighton Lake North campground. Our rig is on the left...
I know this ride was probably more than you expected Doug, but you did great and should be proud. Consider yourself a fairly experienced rider now!
The guys got back just after 3:00. They had had a fabulous day! Sue hadn't ridden a quad before so got on Steve's quad and I got on mine and we took a slow ride around the campground...
I think Sue would really enjoy a side x side Doug!
While the guys were away riding, Sue and I had a relaxing day sitting in the sunshine/shade...Sue with her knitting and me with my crocheting...ahhh...it's good to be retired again!
Steve barbecued burgers for dinner and Sue made potato salad and we enjoyed our last evening together...and yes, Rummikub was brought out after dinner again and this time Doug was the big winner (although I think Steve won one game).
We kind of hate to leave this beautiful spot tomorrow but it's time to move on...we have reservations at our usual spot in Fort Langley. Time to hunker down there for a month and get some "stuff" done before we head south for the winter.
It was a great blue/pink day!!
