Sunday to Tuesday, June 17 - 19, 2012 (Fort Camping, Brae Island Regional Park, Fort Langley, BC)

Happy Father’s Day!  Unfortunately, it was not a very nice day here in the Fraser Valley for all the Fathers ...yup, another cloudy, rainy day.  With low temps and lack of sunshine, this month has earned the name of Jun-uary.

Consequently, we had another “inside” day...for the most part.  But we did manage to get out for a bike ride along the trail to Tavistock Point when there was a bit of a break in the rain.

Monday was cloudy but at least it wasn’t raining.  Although we had just washed the trailer Friday, with the heavy rain over the weekend there were black streaks on it again.  So Steve spent the morning re-washing it while I did laundry.  I also walked down to the office to pay for one more night.  We have decided to leave Wednesday since the weather forecast is much better than tomorrow's.

We had a very slow start to the day Tuesday...we were waiting for the sunshine to make an appearance.  After calling BC Backroad Maps regarding an update that we were having problems with, we managed to get our GPS updated (this is the one we use when ATVing).

It was close to 1:00 by the time we headed out to take care of our errands...our first stop was Costco, then onto Safeway.  Steve went for a haircut while I was in Safeway and then we went to Wholesale Sports.  Both hand guards/mirrors on my quad had broken off and I needed new ones.  Apparently Wholesale Sports has them on their website but they didn’t have any in the store...sheesh!  So we carried onto an ATV shop further down the road.  Still no luck...hopefully, we’ll be able to find some in Chilliwack.  I need them for the ATVBC Poker Ride in Merritt.

It was late afternoon by the time we got home.  Steve had a lot of packing up he wanted to take care of outside in preparation for leaving in the morning.  I put the groceries away and then helped him out where I could.

Since it was our last night here, we decided to go to The Fort Pub for dinner. I took these pictures of the Fraser River...the water level is very high, as a matter of fact, the campground has issued an evacuation alert.  This picture is taken from the bridge looking towards the day-use area of the park...see the hand rail leading down to the beach, it's now underwater.

This picture is taken from the middle of the bridge looking east...

We are hitting the road tomorrow...and really looking forward to it!
