Sunday, June 25 to Saturday, July 1, 2023 (Puntledge RV Park, Courtenay)

Well this week was far more quiet than the previous one! Which is a good thing...these old folks needed some time to recover, LOL!

For the most part, it was pretty routine...with not too much to report. Our morning walks have been wonderful since the injection in my knee. I don't think I realized how much pain I had been having but it's like I have a renewed vitality!

There is a lot of activity on the river with the warm weather we have been having...
And look at that view on one of our morning walks! I know we need rain but it's sure nice with all the blue sky and sunshine!
Earl and Allison joined us for drinks and dinner on Monday (June 26)....
Our first time using our picnic table! Such a beautiful afternoon and evening...
After dinner, we retreated inside to more comfortable chairs and a few games of Rummikub. We all won a game, first Steve, then, Allison, followed by Earl and then me. Of course, we had to have an actual winner, so one more game...and it was back to Steve as the overall winner...
Tuesday (June 27) morning we decided to go back for a hike at Nymph Falls Nature Park...such a beautiful park and a great spot for a hike in the warm weather!

Steve made a short video...

Just shy of an hour and a half, 4.16 km, 6702 steps (thanks FitBit tracker!) and we were back at the car.

Wednesday (June 28) evening Steve and I had a big night out on the town! We had tickets to a Comedy Show at the Sid Williams Theatre, a 15 minute walk away.
The main act, Maria Bamford, was "okay" but quite frankly, we both liked the opening acts better...particularly the second one, Syd Bosel from the Comox area, who had been a contestant on Canada's Got Talent...
Maria Bamford...
Afterwards, a stop across the street from the theatre at Gladstone Brewery for a brew before walking home...
Again, Thursday (June 29) and Friday (June 30) were pretty routine days...by the time the afternoon came around, it was time to shut the trailer up and turn on the A/C to cool it down. Our temperatures have been well into the 20'sC...gorgeous weather!

Saturday (July 1) ...HAPPY CANADA DAY to all of our family and friends! The parade in town starts at 10:00, so we decided to walk over and watch it...

Lots of people in old downtown waiting for the parade to start...
And that's me on the right in the blue top near the umbrella...
RCMP handing out candy to the kids...

Courtenay Fire Department...
Comox Fire Rescue...never seen this colour before!

National Defense from CFB Comox...

Rotary Club of Comox Ducky 500. Rubber duck race to be held after the parade...
Prom Class...
CH-149 Cormorant Search and Rescue fly by...

Campbell River Shrine Club...

This guy spent most of his time on two wheels...
CC-130H Hercules fly by...

At the end of the parade the crowds moved across the bridge to Lewis Park where all the festivities are taking place. We walked back home to rest for awhile...
Completely Creedence, a Creedence Clearwater Revival tribute band is playing on the stage at Lewis Park at 1:00, so we headed back into town to check it out.

The Ducky 500 is happening today...lots of folks lined up on the bridge to watch...
2023 marks the 36th Anniversary of the Comox Rotary Ducky 500! We are grateful to the Comox Valley for your continued support. Ticket proceeds will go to help four important needs in our community: homelessness, youth, environment, and health.
We waited and waited for the race to start but once we heard Completely Creedence start we headed to the park...

Lewis Park is the hub of all the Canada Day celebrations and summer concerts...

We joined a table at the Beer Garden for a Gladstone Brew...
Completely Creedence, they were very good and had lots of people up dancing!
Well, that brings us up-to-date for now. Tomorrow we are leaving on a 3 week (approx.) road trip to Alberta in the car...starting with a few days in Coquitlam with Chris, Angela and Isaac! Looking forward to it!

Stay tuned!

    1. Perhaps it was because we were way up on the balcony where it’s hard to see facial expressions and at times Maria was speaking so softly and mumbling we couldn’t make our what she was saying. She was getting the laughs though. Still a fun evening!
