Saturday to Monday, August 3 to 5, 2019 (Oceanside RV Resort, Saanichton, BC)

Saturday...and it's another beautiful warm sunny day...great summer weather! Unfortunately, though, it's pretty darned dry and a little rain would be welcomed...especially if it would rain at night and be nice during the day. Too much to ask for, I guess LOL!

Our 30 lb propane tanks have aged out and need to be replaced, so Steve wanted to go out to Costco for a new one. We'll have to do the same when the other one is empty. It was a busy Saturday there (when is Costco not busy?) but we lucked into a parking spot right in front of the entrance. I left Steve to do his propane tank shopping (and filling) and headed off to do a little shopping of my own.

After we were done shopping, we made our way over to Nadine and Mike's place (Steve's sister and brother-in-law). We enjoyed coffee on their deck and a nice visit....
About an hour later, we figured we'd better get going since we had some groceries in the truck that wouldn't fare well in the heat. So with big hugs, we said goodbye...always good seeing you! Love your kitchen reno...looks great!

We had a bite to eat for lunch once we got home and then Steve headed out on his walk...and I took off in the car for little more shopping in Sidney.

Instead of his usual power walk to Island View Beach he decided to check out the spit. Remnants of a shipwreck and a First Nations person was digging for clams...
Looking in the opposite direction...
More remnants of a shipwreck, perhaps the same one as this was only about a 100 yards from the other...
View of James Island from the end of the spit...

Looking towards Island View Beach in the distance. This was a tough hike with a steep grade and loose sand and gravel...
An old log that had been hollowed out. Maybe a practice log for the hollowing out a log for a war canoe or just a planter box...

Great Blue Herons...
A couple of hours later, I was home...and after putting the groceries away, we sat outside in the shade enjoying a bevie.

Sunday (August 4) morning...and yet another gorgeous day...we had the laundry bags loaded in the car and were off to Rob and Angie's house shortly after 9:00. I spent the morning doing laundry and watering deck plants while Steve watered the flower beds in the yard and vacuumed out Angie's car.

With those chores done, we headed home to put laundry away...and then start preparations for dinner. We had picked up some ribs at Costco yesterday...and invited our good friends, Rob and Nancy, over for dinner.

After getting the ribs into the Instant Pot, we walked down to introduce ourselves to Steve and Mona Lisa. Steve was looking on rvillage.com and discovered they were here. They are full time RV'ers from California, and even though we have never met we have many mutual RV friends, so we thought we'd go say hello and welcome them to our beautiful island.  Great meeting you both...looking forward to seeing you again when you return to Victoria....
Rob and Nancy arrived around 4:30 and we sat outside in the shade catching up....
Dinner time...
After hugs, they headed home around 9:00...a wonderful visit!

After our usual start Monday (August 5) morning, Steve went and washed the car...there, Angie's car is vacuumed and washed!! The least we could do for the use of it while they are away. Thanks Angie! While he was doing that, I washed and dried all the dishes from last night and cleaned up the kitchen.
With the car all clean inside and out, Steve went onto the next item on his to-do list...empty and flush the holding tanks. And that was the morning...all the work is done!

I left Steve relaxing in his recliner and headed off into Victoria to Michael's for some yarn for my next knitting  project. When I got back, I sat outside knitting...I started sitting in the shade but there was quite a breeze making it chilly, so moved out into the sun. It's amazing what a temperature change there is from inland to oceanfront.

Tomorrow we are heading over to Vancouver for an appointment...and of course, to visit Chris, Angela and Isaac. Looking forward to it!
