Right out of the campground, Buster had quite a climb as we
headed inland on highway 114…a very lumpy, bumpy secondary highway…towards
highway 1 west.
On the outskirts of Saint John, we followed Serena’s directions to Walmart so we could pick up just a few groceries to last us until we cross into Maine Thursday. Steve also needed to pick up a new water filter as the water at Fundy had been so full of iron that it plugged the filter, making for very poor water pressure.
As we were headed back to the highway, Steve noticed a First Choice Haircutters…and desperately needing a haircut, he pulled into a large, relatively empty parking lot across the street. I waited in the truck while he went across the street…about 40 minutes later he was back, and we were on our way following along the St. John River.
...but at that point, we should have apparently turned off our GPS and followed the signs to Kiwanis Oceanfront Camping. Serena took us right down the narrow main street (Water Street) of town.
To top that off, we turned into the campground where Serena told us to, instead of reading the signs to carry onto the office which was further up the street. This was a very narrow entrance but we made it, found the office…and luckily were able to turn around so we were “pointed in the right direction”.
After going out on the gator to look at sites with a worker, he chose site #39. It is a back-in site but because the site behind us is empty, we were able to drive through into it. The site is full hook-up with 30 amp power.
We got all set up and settled into our new location and sat outside in the late afternoon sunshine. The sun has come out this afternoon but the forecast for the next couple of days is for major rain…figures, we only have 2 days here.
