Monday, March 17, 2025 (Palm Springs, CA - PART 4, Palm Springs Aerial Tramway)

We had a beautiful sunrise this morning...a lovely way to start to the day!
Today's adventure includes a tram ride up to the peak of Mt. San Jacinto on the Palm Springs Aerial Tramway...The Palm Springs Aerial Tramway takes visitors on a 10-minute tram ride from the Valley Station, located at 1 Tram Way, Palm Springs, to the Mountain Station, elevation 8,516 feet. Experience sweeping views of the Coachella Valley and rugged Chino Canyon during the ascent to Mount San Jacinto. Once at the top, the Mountain Station is equipped with the Peaks Restaurant, Pines Café, Lookout Lounge, observation decks, Natural History Association Museum, and over 50 miles of hiking trails at Mount San Jacinto State Park.

The Tram is in the canyon ahead...
The Aerial Tramway opens at 10:00 and we figured if we arrive shortly after, we would be there in plenty of time. Boy were we wrong...we got in line to purchase tickets to find that our ride would not be until 12:40! Oh great! Now we have a couple of hours to wait. Steve and I grabbed a coffee at the little coffee shop while Chris, Angela and Isaac went to find a place to sit. It was a very busy place!
But they managed to find an area in the shade up the hill where we could sit on the rocks...

Isaac had fun climbing over the big rocks...

Here comes the tram, left of center. The red line shows where we're headed...

Finally it was time to go back inside and get ready for our ride up the mountain...
We are well on our way...
From here you can see the Salton Sea in the distance on the far right...
The tram cars hold a maximum of 80 people and rotates...
Once up top we went to the viewing platform. Isaac was in one of his "I don't want to be in a picture moods" LOL...
A short 29 second video...

We'll take that walkway down to the bottom later...
But first, we thought we'd have lunch...
Okay...now you can take a picture!
Although sunny, it was very windy and cold. Down we go...
We made it down to the bottom. This is where there are hiking trails in the summer and snow-shoeing in the winter...
Now we have to walk all the way back up! Steve wanted to get a picture...doesn't it look like Isaac is having a great time? LOL...he really didn't want to be in this picture!

Time for a short break...
Almost there!
It was a short wait to catch the tram back down the mountain. I swear there were more that 80 people in the tram car on the way down! They had us packed in like sardines!

Passing a tram car heading up...

Once back down, we grabbed the shuttle to the parking lot. There are a number of lots, so it's handy having the shuttle making it's rounds to all of them. Time to head back to the condo...I think a pool visit was also had! Another great day!

    1. The views didn't disappoint! We've been up twice, both in the winter with snow. Apparently there are amazing hiking trails...great for when the weather warms up, up there!

  2. What a cool (literally) area! And to be able to spend an extended amount of time with your son and family away from home is even a bonus!

    1. It was so nice to get away from dusty Quartzsite to some greenery, full on showers and a walk around bed. It’s the first time we’ve had family south of the border so was pretty special. Cheers!
