Monday, July 4 to Friday, July 15, 2022 (Peace Arch RV Park, Surrey, BC)

The last 2 weeks since returning from our week away in Logan Lake at the ATV Poker Ride saw Steve working diligently at picture and video editing...and working on blog updates. Other than that, it was pretty routine...our daily walks, laundry, shopping (i.e. nothing terribly exciting).

We decided the first thing we should do is take our muddy quads to a nearby car wash, off load them and get them cleaned up! So Monday (July 4) Steve got things ready and we headed off...
Back in they go...
It took us a good couple of hours to get it all done and was a bit of a pain having to off-load and re-load them into the truck due to all of the other stuff we store on top of, underneath and between the quads,  but it went smoothly and it was a good job done! Great to get that chore out of the way!

Our son, Chris is off work this week, leaving for vacation in the Okanagan tomorrow, so we went to their place for a visit, dinner and to wish Chris a Happy Birthday (which was yesterday).

We had a great visit and wonderful dinner...but no pictures! Happy Belated Birthday, Chris! Hope you all have a fabulous vacation in Osoyoos!

Friday (July 8) with the weather improving (maybe summer is finally here...yay!), we put the outside mat out and the sun/privacy screen up. It makes our yard much nicer and cozy. That afternoon, we invited our neighbours, Wayne and Mary-Ellen, over for happy hour. We first met them here at Peace Arch the summer COVID hit and then they ended up at Oceanside RV Resort when we spent the winter in Saanichton (on Vancouver Island) due to the pandemic. We hadn't really gotten to know them, other than some chit-chatting when outside but this year when they pulled in right behind us...it was time to get to know them better!
Monday (July 11) we went for a walk along Crescent Beach. A beautiful day...with a very low tide! Actually the the tides over the next few days will be extra low...due to the Full Buck Supermoon which will be on Wednesday (July 13)....In July, the Full Moon is the Buck Moon, named after the new antlers that emerge from a buck’s forehead around this time of the year....(the) Buck Moon orbits closer to Earth than any other full Moon this year, making it the biggest and brightest supermoon of 2022!

Tuesday (July 12) we met Steve ex-colleague from work, Tracy and her husband Colin, for lunch at John B Pub in Coquitlam. Great catching up with them again!
And then we drove the short distance to Chris and Angela's. Chris was at work but Angela and Isaac were home, so we had a great time with them. Although we love to see them whenever we can, the reason today was to use their home internet. We had tried uploading a video to YouTube without much success...not only did it take hours and hours, but it used up most of our data plans on our phones and it wasn't very good! A valuable lesson learned...as you have probably guessed, we are relatively new YouTube users when it comes to upload our own videos. Our videos are usually only a few minutes, or so but the culprit was a 34 minute video of Steve's ATV ride that you saw on the blog from our week in Logan Lake.

Another beautiful day...as we sit outside on the patio and Isaac plays in his water-table...
Dinner was easy tonight...I ordered in pizza!
Wednesday (July 13) morning we went back to Blackie Spit (where we park to walk Crescent Beach) but instead of walking the beach, we walked the "inside" trails...
This boat appears to be stuck in the channel at low tide...

The trail to the end of Blackie Spit...
Blackie Spit...
Time for sailing lessons...they had a long way to wheel their boats down to the water!

After our walk, instead of driving straight home we took a drive through White Rock to check out the beach and low tide along there...
The White Rock Pier is high and dry!

The exceptionally low tide has exposed the seaweed...
The next day, Thursday (July 14), Steve dropped me off for my pedicure and haircut appointments and then took his drone back to Blackie Spit to video the lowest tide in a decade. Here is his 2:35 minute video...

Saturday, we are going to an Air Show...stay tuned!

  1. Good idea getting that dirt and mud off the quads while it is somewhat fresh. They stuff dries like concrete after a while!

The video was very cool. Interesting how low the tides got!
