All the fun and games are over with...time to get some work done! Dave and Leslie decided to move their newly built shed...and very well built shed, I might add...because it was going to cause an issue with the building of their garage. No problem...we can help with that!
It needs to be turned and moved from this spot...to the back of their property. Pretty well straight back but there was a small incline to get over...
First Dave wanted to winch out a couple of small trees...
We had tried turning it by hand but it was too heavy. Dave decided to call a tow company with a flatbed to turn it, then load it onto the flatbed, drive it back and drop it. We broke for lunch then a little later Dave was knocking on the door saying he got the shed turned with his truck...lets see if we can move it. It wasn't too bad pushing it using the logs to roll it until we got to the incline.
Neighbour Bert to the rescue with his pickup...
Steve positioned a log in front while Leslie and Dave removed one in the back...
See those nasty clouds in the picture above? Well, they let loose making us take a break to get out of the downpour. It didn't last all that long...just more of an inconvenience but it did make us take a break!
Yikes...getting a little too closes to that tree so we had to move the shed sideways...
Bert went as far as he could with his truck but had to leave enough room to get out. We had it pretty close to the spot we wanted it when Dave had a "blow out". While we were all pushing the shed, he felt a pop in the calf of his right leg...oh, oh! He said it felt like a branch had slapped hard against his calf. This is not good...especially since he is training to run a marathon! Needless to say, we decided that was it for today. Dave hobbled into the trailer and we joined them for a drink while Leslie got an ice pack out...time to sit with your leg up, Dave! We had a drink and then headed home to let Dave recover in some peace and quiet.
Steve got a shot of a great sunset tonight...
Tuesday morning we texted Dave...he said his leg was feeling much better today but still very tender. We first thought he had torn a muscle but from some research on-line, they figured it wasn't that bad. It was later confirmed by a physiotherapist that he had badly strained it. Still a concern...but better than originally thought.
On the way to Dave and Leslie's, Steve saw Bert and explained that Dave had an injury so asked if he could give us a hand to move the shed the final 5 feet. Dave was cranking on a large strap hooked up to a tree behind while we all pushed. We eventually managed to get the shed into place.
With the work done, Dave and Leslie insisted on taking us out for lunch...not necessary, but very nice! So we all got cleaned up and headed into Original Joe's in Stoney Plain. We all enjoyed an adult bevie along with a delicious meal...
Back home, it was Dave's turn to give Steve a hand. We had picked up a new camera for the passenger side door of the truck and wanted to see if they put their heads together they could figure out how to take the door apart to put the replacement in.
They figured they knew what was required, but when they tried sliding the lower section of the door forward a couple of pieces of plastic broke off. So they decided it was best to leave it to the professionals. We'll take it to WCI, where we had the camera system installed back in 2010 and get them to put it in.
By this time it was late afternoon...time for a final campfire and happy hour since we are leaving tomorrow. Bert and Vera joined us again. Nice view of hole 8...
Margaret taking a nap on Leslie's lap...
We had this little fellow join us on a nearby tree...a small woodpecker...
Bert and Vera said goodbye after a bit...Vera works at the resort's clubhouse and had had a very busy day. And since we had had a big lunch, we decided to just roast hot dogs over the campfire...perfect!
And that ends five nights/four days with Dave and Leslie at Pineridge. We've had a blast...always good to get together with you! Tomorrow we have a short travel day into St. Albert, a suburb of Edmonton.
Great job moving that shed, that looked like a really tough job!
ReplyDeleteIt took awhile, Dave built it like a tank!
DeleteGood job moving the shed. Hope his leg is ok for the marathon. Prettiest sunset picture ever! What a nice place on the golf course !
ReplyDeleteLatest report is that his leg is improving. Great spot...especially if you are a golfer :)
