Sunday, February 27 to Sunday, March 6, 2022 (La Posa South LTVA, Quartzsite, AZ)

Sunday (Feb. 27) morning at 10:00, the gang gathered for another quad ride. Today's ride to Kofa Cabin in the Kofa National Wildlife Refuge, will be led by Jim and Cec, with Colan and Marilyn, Cindi and Lisa, Steve...I will be riding "in luxury" with Allison in their SxS. Unfortunately, Earl's back is still too tender for long rides.

Check out our short Relive video...Ride to Kofa Cabin.

And we are off!
Entering the Kofa National Wildlife Refuge...
Time for a break...

Colan/Marilyn and Steve...
Since I was a passenger, I took a bunch of scenery pictures...
As usual, pictures just don't do the scenery justice!

Time for another break...

It was quite a long ride, but we finally saw the Kofa Cabin in the distance!
Steve, the "tail gunner" arriving...

Marilyn checking out the inside of the cabin. It is stocked with some essentials for overnighters stopping by. One thing I was pleased to find is that the inside of the cabin had not been trashed.
Cec took a picture of Steve and I 'horsing around' on the bed...Bosco decided to join us! Too funny!
Me, Cec and Marilyn...
Someone had left a chair with a container that had a small pipe and some "whacky tobaccy" (or "left-handed lettuce" as Jim calls it) in it. We hadn't been their long when a vehicle came bounding in...it was the owner back to collect it. He was a nice guy and after chatting with him for awhile, he offered to take a group picture of us. Left to right, Lisa, Cindi, Allison, Cec, Jim, Steve, me, Marilyn and Colan...
I took a selfie as Allison and I got back on the trail. Time to head back.
Scenery going the opposite direction...

The picture doesn't portray just how green the soil was through here. Wonder what causes it to be that colour?
Break time...
Sorry about the finger in the top left...it's hard getting pictures as we bounce along the trail!

Pit stop at the Livingston Well...
It was just before 4:00 and about 105km/65 miles later by the time we got home. Another fabulous day out on the trails! Thanks for the ride, Allison!

Steve also had his GoPro camera with him...to see his pictures, click on Ride to Kofa Cabin.

Of course, we all gathered for happy hour. Left to right around the circle...Allison's back, Cindi, Roger (Cindi's husband who stayed home working), Cec, Jim, Steve, Earl, Marilyn and Colan...
Due to cloudless skies we haven't had many sunsets this season...but here's one!
By Monday (Feb. 28), warmer temperatures had returned and they are rising through the week. Late morning, we went with Earl and Allison to Blythe. The guys have their drones and want to take pictures/videos of the Blythe Intaglios.
Steve lifting off while Earl watches his drones progress on his phone...
The only way to really see the Intaglios is from the air...

Steve and Earl far below...

Once all the drone flying was done, we stopped at Albertson's for a little grocery shopping before heading home.

The afternoon ended with the gang over for a few games of Core Crash.

Tuesday (Mar. 1) morning Allison and I went out for our 10k walk while Steve and Earl went out back to fly. Steve is taking his big Apprentice plane for one final flight before packing it away in the truck.

The rest of the day was non-eventful...picture editing, reading and blog work.

Wednesday (Mar. 2) morning Steve took his small Aero Scout plane out for a final flight before packing it up...
Ready for takeoff...
After some chores, it was time to play again...this time with Steve's new drone. He wanted me to give it a try. Steve showed me how to command it to takeoff by itself then I took over...
I'm controlling that tiny spec in the sky...
I learned how to go up and down, side slip left and right, and rotating in either direction while watching it in the air and on the phone. I even landed it manually!

Then Steve took over and shot this video...

At 4:00 it was Core Crash time! We've had a lot of fun playing it this season!
Colan taking his turn...
After a few games, it was time to light the campfire so we could roast hot dogs. Earl, Allison, Bob, Sue, Jim, Cec, Marilyn, Colan and Steve...
 Look at that sunset!
Stunning!
Dinner time! Steve, Earl and Sue...
Thursday (Mar. 3) was another very hot day with temperatures climbing to 30C/87F but unlike yesterday, we had wind today.

This afternoon we rode our quads one last time...into town for a final visit at our favourite watering hole, Beer Belly's Adult Day Care. We enjoyed a couple of hours of laughter and beer! And one final visit with Jim and Cec...they are leaving tomorrow morning to start their journey home. Left to right, Jim, Cec, Colan, Marilyn, Steve and me. Earl and Allison had decided to go geocaching in Brenda...
Friday (Mar. 4) morning we loaded up the laundry and headed into town. I decided to use the dryers this time as it was a cooler, windier day with a little rain in the forecast. While I was doing that, Steve ran some errands.

Steve had some critters at the bird feeder today...a Ground Squirrel that lives beside the feeder so he gets sloppy seconds...
And finally some birds had discovered the feeder weeks ago. The Ground Squirrel below kind of blends in with the background looking like one of the many rocks...
Steve had a productive morning once we got home...starting to pack up as we are leaving our winter home Monday. He got quite a bit done and was finished just as the rain started. It wasn't much but with the wind, what little rain there was pelted against the trailer.

Saturday (Mar. 5) morning we drove into Love's Truck Center. The new tires that Steve ordered for the trailer arrived there yesterday and he wanted to make sure they were the right ones. All is good and we will stop there first thing Monday morning to have them installed.

Back home, we got started on the work for today...unloading everything out of the truck box so Steve could clean it before loading the quads.

In goes my quad...
And Steve's...
When that was done, I left him to pack everything back into the box...he has a lot of stuff to fit in around, under, and on top of the quads!

By early afternoon, the wind had really whipped up  and it was pretty dusty. Steve pretty well had all he wanted to get done today, so we basically hunkered down inside. The wind is getting so tiresome! Normally we may get one dust storm a season but I think this is our fourth.

Sunday (Mar. 6) we woke to blue sky, calm wind and chilly temperatures. We have to finish our pack up in preparation for leaving tomorrow...hopefully the wind stays calm because Steve has to take off the PVC pipes from the slide toppers that prevent them from flapping in the wind.

After breakfast Steve got right to work outside with all of the things on his pack-up "to do" list. While he worked outside, I did what I could inside, however, the majority of my pack-up can't be done until the morning just before we leave. So I went outside to help where I could. I gathered and cleaned all of the solar lights Steve had put up around our yard. I didn't count them but there must have been close to 2 dozen.

Steve up on the roof cleaning and putting the solar panels down...
Next door, Earl and Allison were also packing up. Earl loading their SxS onto their truck...
At 4:00 we had one final happy hour and played Core Crash (Molkky). Sue, Earl, Allison, Steve, Marilyn, Colan, Fred and Terry and Bob taking his turn...
My turn...
As the sun went down behind the mountains, we called it a day. We said goodbye to Bob and Sue, Fred and Terry...safe travels to you when you head north...and Colan and Marilyn. Wonderful spending time with you this winter!

And that concludes our winter here in Quartzsite...tomorrow we start our slow journey north. Next stop, Wickenburg, AZ.

  4. Safe trip home guys. You're lucky to be heading for the lower mainland, not ready for RV living here yet for sure. Keep lots of room on the Visa for fuel lol. We thought it was bad here until we got pics of the pump in Victoria!! Chat soon:)

    1. Thanks guys! Not looking forward to the fuel bill for sure. It’s going to put a damper on our summer plans if it continues. At least your Premier is taking off the provincial tax.

    2. Except not until April 1 and if the price of oil drops then the tax comes back on a sliding scale so it's good yes ....but! We're still only at 155.9 so not as harsh as the coast.
