Leaving Leighton North Campground with Chris in the lead, followed by Dianne...
Steve spotted 2 Bald Eagles sitting in this tree and tried to walk up for a closer shot...
At least this one hung around...

Day 2 at "the office"...
Sunday (June 13) started out cloudy but warm with the temp outside 11C. It was also fairly calm out but as the morning progressed, it started getting breezy. By late morning, it was howling! Some of the strongest wind gusts we’ve had. This wind is getting really tiring!
We both spent the morning doing chores. After lunch, Steve did a little reading and then decided to move the satellite dish to the other side of the trailer where it would be a little more protected. Other than a few odds and ends, that was pretty much our day!
We came across these two photographers taking pictures of a Great Grey Owl...
It's been a good year for dandelions!
Dianne spotted a cow moose and got on the radio to tell me. I got a shot with the GoPro as it ran away...the black dot between the branches :)
The last of our group arriving...
The lake curves around to the right...
After lunch, we all hit the trails again...
Nobody wanted to play in the mud...
But we had no choice on this one :)
The grasslands are beautiful...
There's an old log building on the right that we want to check out next time...
More free range cattle...
Chris and Dianne...
Dianne at the top....
I didn't want to scare the bird away so continued on slowly, and because my GoPro photo doesn't have Zoom I pulled this photo from the Internet...

We met the others at Jacks Lake around noon…for lunch. The other group…Ollie and Elsa, Wally and Marlee, Jim and Cindy, and Mark…were already there, finishing their lunch when we arrived.
Legs up!

A quick stop at the corner where Gottan Lake Forest Service Road meets Tunkwa Lake Road...

We got back to Leighton North Campground but Jane still wanted to ride so a few of us got back on/in our machines and continued on to a creek she wanted to check out...
On the left you can barely make out Tunkwa Lake...
The last time we rode here a few years ago we saw a couple of wild horses and a few sandhill cranes...
Arriving at Guichon Creek...
At times too deep to cross....
It was after s 4:00 when we got back to camp. We locked our quads up at Chris and Jane's and then headed home to get cleaned up...and get our chairs and bevies. We joined them for happy hour...a great day!

Saturday (June 5) was a cool, chilly…and windy day. Just before 9:30, we headed over to North Leighton to help set up the pop-up canopy in the staging area for BC Trails day….
Don (he and Suzanne had arrived last night) led a group of us on a ride back to Jacks Lake....
We took a different route on the way back...another great ride. Thanks for leading Don!Back at the Staging Area, the group who stayed behind had hot dogs ready for everyone. Great job, chef Suzanne!
We left just after 1:00 so that we could drive into Logan Lake, fill some fresh water containers...and get dessert for tonight. Jane invited us to join the gang for pasta dinner.
The weather in town was great but as we headed back to the lake, we had rain...and then there was a big wind storm go through, with gusts up to 60 kms/hr. Once that had blown through, we went back over to join everyone. We enjoyed happy hour and then a delicious spaghetti dinner, complete with salads and bread...and of course, dessert.
Jane getting all set up...Mike is first in line!
After a delicious dinner, we sat around the campfire until around 8:00 and then called it a night.
Sunday (June 6) morning we took the truck over to load up the quads. Everyone was basically packed up and a couple of rigs had already pulled out.
After loading the quads, and chatting with Chris, Jane, Don, Suzanne and Debbie, we wished them a safe drive home. Thanks so much for a great time!
Late morning, we decided to drive into town to have our weekly video chats with Chris and Rob…and their families. We had a quick call with Chris but Angela and Isaac were out so that Chris could work on some courses he is taking. Rob was at work…so all in all, our plan to talk to our kids and grandkids was a bust. Oh well, I managed to get some banking done.
After a late lunch, Steve started some picture editing from his GoPro while I just chilled. The wind had died down quite a bit, and it wasn’t raining, so we decided to go out and have our happy hour around a campfire. As with many campfires, we played “musical chairs” trying to stay out of the smoke.
We woke to another chilly morning Monday (June 7)…our outside thermometer has read 2C the last couple of mornings. Amazing how the weather has changed…after blistering hot just last Wednesday and Thursday.
Steve went out fishing this morning and I was going to hike around the lake…but as I started out, I felt a few raindrops and it looked like it could start pouring any minute, so I decided to just do my walking around the campground. I really didn’t want to get caught in a rainstorm.
I captured some pictures of Steve out on the lake...
Steve got these shots from his GoPro...fish in mid air just left of the bush!
This one was snagged by it's dorsal fin and fought like hell...
I (Steve) caught a couple of "happy scrappers" this size...Steve was back in at about 12:30…we had lunch and then I went back out in the boat with him...
After a foggy start to the day Tuesday (June 8)…
…it was a beautiful morning. I dropped Steve off at the boat…he went fishing and I headed out on a nice long hike. Today I went around Leighton Lake, then up to “the Bench”, and finally around the campground…7 kms in total.
This is a picture Steve took of 2 other boats...the "Bench" is up on that hillside...
I took this picture from "the Bench"...that spec in the distance to the right of the island is Steve...A closer look....
Big ominous looking clouds were heading in…which brought Steve back shortly after I got home. He had some luck again out there but the fish were a little smaller and not picture worthy. Once back he did some chores, and after lunch we headed into Logan Lake for drinking water and a little internet time.
For the most part, the rain skirted around us…we just had a few sprinkles. Very unsettled weather here!
Wednesday (June 9) morning I was off for a day by myself in Kamloops. I had a badly needed pedicure appointment at 10:00, did laundry, a little shopping…and was home around 4:00. A lovely day…even if I did have to do laundry, LOL!
Steve went for a walk around Leighton Lake and then worked on picture editing. It was another very windy day here. Steve took a few pictures on his walk.
I spotted these older goslings near the waterfall..
Left, left, left right left...LOL!Natures flower basket...

American Wigeon Ducks...
Thursday (June 10) we woke to blue sky and a chilly 1C outside with frost on the picnic table. It didn’t take long, though, for the sun to warm things up.
The lake was calm, so after Steve did some maintenance on his fishing line, I dropped him off at the boat…and headed off on a walk around Leighton Lake.
Back home, I did a few chores. Steve was back just before noon…a very successful morning fishing. Steve here... my best trip so far, I caught 6 trout one of which was snagged in the belly and I had another episode with a opportunistic Loon. My fish count to date is 20 in the boat...good by my standards but some of the locals have done more than that in a day!
Friday (June 11) was another windy day…sure wish it would calm down, especially in the afternoon so we could have a campfire!
We decided to go into Logan Lake today and concentrate on getting a blog update done. We sat in the car in the Rec Centre parking lot…I was working on putting the blog together; Steve was getting caught up on FB, emails, etc.
When I was done, and it was time to pass it over to Steve, we decided to go to the Black Bull Pub. It is open Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays now. Steve had one heck of a time getting the pictures in order, so it took a long time. We finally had to call it a day when the laptop ran out of power…yes, I had forgotten to bring the power cord! Sheesh! But the blog was all done, I just needed to have one final go over to fix some formatting problems. We (or I) will make a trip back into town tomorrow to get it published.
Day 1 at "the office"...LOL!
Saturday (June 12) started off beautiful…mainly blue sky and calm winds. Unfortunately, it wasn’t long before the wind started up, so Steve decided not to bother with fishing today. Instead, we both hiked around Leighton Lake.
Before leaving Steve spotted these guys 15' from our trailer and took this shot from inside...
There are lots of Bald and Golden Eagles here, the Osprey have disappeared...Steve spotted 2 Bald Eagles sitting in this tree and tried to walk up for a closer shot...
At least this one hung around...

After relaxing for a bit after our hike, we both headed into town. Again, we started off in the Rec Centre parking lot…and shortly after noon, we went back to the Black Bull Pub. It’s much easier to sit at a table with the laptop! Unfortunately, we again, had big problems with pictures and ended up being there much longer than expected. After much frustration, we decided to just leave it for now and come back in a couple of days…at least we got one blog posted today!

Once again, that brings us up-to-date!
