Saturday, Sunday and Monday, February 18, 19 and 20, 2017 (La Posa South LTVA, Quartzsite, AZ)

I didn't sleep all that well last night...the wind had the trailer rocking and although not fully awake, it certainly wasn't a very restful sleep. Steve said he had no problem. The rain also started sometime during the night and we woke up to a lot of water on the ground....and that was basically what the whole day was like. You don't see this very often in Quartzsite...
Needless to say, we had an inside day! Lots of watching TV, reading and knitting. That's okay...once in a while.

Earl and Allison came over that night and we played Rummikub...Earl was the big winner with 2 games...the rest of us each won one.

The forecast for Sunday was for a fairly decent day...20% chance of showers and partly sunny. As we got ready for our quad ride, we were a little concerned with the bank of clouds to the south...over the Kofa National Wildlife Refuge, where we were going. And of course, just before we were about to go, it started raining...so we put our rain gear on and headed over to Earl and Allison's.

There were four of us on our ride today...Earl, Art, Steve and I. Luckily the rain had pretty well stopped by the time we hit the trails...one good thing about all of the rain we had...there was no dust!
Wildlife water tank...
We were not long into the ride before we decided it was safe to remove our rain gear.

Prickly Pear Cactus...

The end of the road...De La Ossa Well. Time for lunch...but first, Earl was on the hunt for a geocache hidden here (we found it December 2014 when we had been here on a ride with Bob and Sue).
Once finished lunch, we were back on the quads retracing our route back out of the canyon. A totally different view going the opposite direction...

Yikes, there's an ugly cloud chasing us out of the canyon!
Zoomed in on an arch...

Which way should we go??

Interesting area near Jasper Spring...

Not wanting to double back we tried to find a trail to take us back into the direction of camp but they all had "No Motor Vehicles" signs so we ended up going along ways in the opposite direction...

We finally found an overgrown trail...
and at times had to make our own trail...

This Saguaro looks like it's about to give the smaller one a hug...
The overgrown trail eventually took us to a pipeline road leading us back in the right direction...

The section with red soil reminded us of Hawaii...

We arrived home just before 4:30...Wow, what a fantastic ride! 7 hours and 70 miles...a great day! Thanks for leading the ride, Earl.

Monday was a chore day. Steve started off with trying to fix a bolt on the boat loader that had come off but eventually needed a trip into Herb's Hardware. I was doing housework inside and since I needed to pick up a couple of things at Roadrunner Market, I went with him into Q.

Once back, he emptied the inside of the truck box and then I set up the air bed and got our "guest room" ready for our guests who would be arriving tomorrow. Steve got started on his next chore..."pump and dump".
Our guest room is ready!

With our work done for the day, we relaxed in the late afternoon sunshine. After dinner, Earl and Allison came over for one final evening of Rummikub...they leave Wednesday. "The girls" dominated the evening with each of us winning 3 games....we "gave" one game up to Earl...and poor Steve was about to win the last game but I took it with my turn just before him. So close!
