Wednesday, Thursday and Friday, January 18, 19 and 20, 2017 (La Posa South LTVA, Quartzsite, AZ)

We woke to clear blue sky Wednesday morning...it's going to be a great day to go out geocaching on the quads! So with a lunch packed and stowed away in the cargo box, we headed down to Jim and Barb's place. After a brief chat, we were on our way.

We are going for a string of caches on the other side of the I-10, so we headed north, through La Posa North LTVA and made our way on the side streets, across the overpass over I-10, to the end of the road where we hit the trail...continuing a little way to the Sunkist Trail and the start of the string.

Our first geocache find of the day...

Barb and Jim blasting by on to the next one as we leapfrog each other...
Jim's turn on this one and Barb's turn to stay with Daisy and Dakota...
Another one down...
Our very last geocache of the day...and we couldn't find it! Jim, me and Barb...
Time to head home...

There were all kinds of areas out here where rocks were placed. During WWII General Patton trained his troops in the area so it may be one of their old camps...

Back over the I-10...
A very cool rig just at the start of the trail from the street in La Posa North...
We were back home shortly after 2:30...a fabulous day out on the quads! We were gone almost 5 hours, traveled about 42 miles...and found over two dozen geocaches (haven't logged them all yet!)

I'm glad we were home early...that gave me time to get a few things done before happy hour. Jim and Barb are having a gathering at their place but before we go, I have to get cleaned up and also put a tray of lasagna together. We are having Ray and Deb for dinner tonight.

All came together well for me and I was all ready by 4:00. So we joined the group at Jim and Barb's. Left to right around the circle...Barb, Dave, Steve, Deb, Jim, Ray, Harry (poor Vicki is still next door working) and Maxine...
We had a great visit with everyone...and then bid goodbye and headed home. Deb and Ray did the same.  I immediately got the oven warming up, table set and everything ready for dinner. A few minutes later, Deb and Ray came over and we sat and relaxed with drinks as the lasagna cooked in the oven.
We ate a "fashionably late" dinner...lasagna, Caesar salad  and garlic bread, followed by pecan pie (thanks for picking up the garlic bread and pie, Deb!)...

Thursday morning Barb and Jim picked me up at 11:00. Barb is dropping Jim off at the Phoenix airport (he is going back east for a few days) and I am going along...Barb and I can do a little shopping after we drop Jim off. And we just did that! What a great afternoon...and evening; we didn't get home until about 7:30.

ShadePro showed up to replace our old awning however the one he had was a two piece which was too long so he had to order in a one piece. Don't know why they didn't inquire or know what we had when Steve made the appointment and gave them our make and size. Also the awning motor is sounding laboured and gets stuck once in awhile. $499 for a new one...yikes! The other option is a used one for $100 but no warranty. We'll go with that. With the weather in Quartzsite a little rainy and quite windy they decided it wouldn't have been a good day for an install anyway. So Steve had a relaxing day watching his shows...

Friday's forecast was for more wind and rain...and it was supposed to be worse in the afternoon, so Deb picked me up at 9:00 and we drove to Parker. A few hours later we were home...a little shopping here, a little shopping there...lunch, and time to head home. Another wonderful "girl day"...two in a row for me, awesome!

Steve had done a few chores around here but with the cool windy weather had another inside day. It was very windy when we got home and some of the gusts got worse...with rain...as the afternoon and evening progressed.

Just after 3:30, we went over to Ray and Deb's...they had pvr'd the Inauguration this morning and although both Steve and Ray had already watched, Deb and I wanted to see it. So we watched it together, had a couple of drinks and were back home at about 5:30. That seems to be when the rain and wind really hit. The trailer was a rockin'! The wind gusts are forecast as high as 40 mph tonight. As a matter of fact the next few days are not looking good weather-wise. Looking forward to the sunshine again by next Tuesday.

  1. Stay safe and warm in these winds, I have to admit I am happy to have full hookups this weekend in Tucson. Hopefully by the time we ate back in Q things will be warming up.
