Wednesday and Thursday, December 28 and 29, 2016 (Peace Arch RV Park, Surrey, BC)

Wednesday morning we were up and out by 7:30 a.m....taking the truck back to Gold Key Isuzu. This time we knew that it wouldn't make sense to bother looking into the persistent "squeal"...it has done it so infrequently, and we haven't driven the truck enough (especially hauling with a load) for a soot trail to be visible. Instead, there has been a relay "chatter" in the dash...again intermittently and they have checked the relays but it keeps returning. Steve was concerned about a dash fire so he wanted them to figure out why it kept returning.

So we sat in the waiting room for over 4 hours...gosh, had we known it was going to take so long, we could have walked down to the mall. It did however, give us a chance to do some research on-line. Apparently the abnormal winter weather is not finished...another cold blast with sub-zero temperatures and snow is coming in by the weekend. So we started thinking that perhaps we should "get outta dodge" sooner than originally planned.

Once the truck was ready, we stopped for a bite to eat, did a bit of shopping and then headed home...it was going on 4:00 by that time!

We woke to rain Thursday...and it rained all day. After humming and hawing a lot, we finally made the decision to "get outta here" tomorrow. That meant Steve spent the day in rain gear outside preparing for our departure.

The boat loader decided to pack it in...without the boat on the truck. Luckily Glen at Load it was able to have a look at it today, so Steve was gone for a few hours. The boat loader needed a new motor and after running a few errands and getting a haircut, he was home finishing his work outside. We even hitched up the truck and trailer.

While he was gone, I did laundry and a lot of  what I call administrative work...aka, paying bills, extending out travel insurance since we are leaving early, activating our Verizon JetPak, etc.

Just after 5:30 Chris and Angela arrived for one final visit before we leave. Angela and I enjoyed a bottle of white wine...thanks for bringing it! We had pizza delivered...a nice, easy dinner...and then we played a few games of Rummikub. We had a great visit with them...and after big hugs, they were off. See you next April!

We are looking forward to getting back on the road tomorrow...we just hope that the weather and road conditions co-operate!

  1. Hope you're on the road as you planned. We saw the news last night and the coast got another huge dump of snow. Unbelievable winter for Vancouver and area. Safe travels, curious of your path through Washington/ Oregon.
