Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday, August 23, 24 and 25, 2016 (Cochrane, AB)

Tuesday was another blustery day. We enjoyed a lazy morning watching the birds and squirrels on the sundeck...

It was late morning by the time we headed out...time for a little sightseeing. Ken and Charlene live on the big lake in the older section. This is the other lake that has the new Monterra development around it. You can tell how windy it is...just look at the fountains...
Cochrane....

We drove into Calgary to a Costco for a little shopping. Back home, I helped Charlene separate burger into meal size bags...

Allie decided to be a lap dog...
Wednesday, August 24....HAPPY BIRTHDAY, STEVE! Wow...61 years young!
After our coffee this morning, we decided to go for a walk. Leaving Charlene at home, Steve, Ken, the dogs and I headed out. There is a trail that leads from the end of his road over to the new development. We walked part way around the big lake and then around the smaller lakes in the new development.

The larger Cochrane Lake...

Smaller Cochrane Lakes..

Steve and Ken have known each other since Steve was 3 1/2 years old! Their parents were great friends back when they lived in Regina, Saskatchewan...
We took another trip into Calgary today. We dropped Charlene off at her doctors appointment and Ken took us to Heritage Park while we waited.

We had planned on going into see the Gasoline Alley part of the park which used to be free but now at a cost $26.25/person, we decided that wasn't going to happen. Sometime when we have the whole day, we will have to visit it...but that will be on another trip.

But we did manage to get a few pictures of the area...

After picking up Charlene, we headed off for a tour of downtown Calgary....

And then stopped for an early dinner at the Silver Dragon Restaurant in Chinatown...time for a feast of Chinese food!
Of course, we all had to sing Happy Birthday to Steve!

Thursday was a pretty laid back kind of day. We drove into Cochrane and Ken dropped Steve and I off at Mark's Work Wearhouse to check out some clothes for our Africa trip...while he took Rocky to the vet for a shot. Again, there was another storm coming through...look at those dark clouds!
Ken's younger brother, Ron and his wife, Debbie, came over for dinner that night. We hadn't seen Ron and Debbie since Ken and Charlene's wedding 27 years ago! Here is Ken grilling steaks...
Left to right around the table...Charlene, Debbie, Ron, Ken, Andrew (Ken's son), and me....
After dinner, I took a couple of pictures of the sun deck...
The lake in the distance...
After dinner, sitting around chatting....
A picture of Ron, Debbie, Charlene and Ken...
Tomorrow the weather is forecast to be nice...so we are going to the Calgary Zoo. It has been years since we have been there...really looking forward to it!
