Thursday, July 21, 2016 (Travel to North Thompson River Provincial Park, Clearwater, BC)

It was about 8:30 this morning when Dennis and Suzanne stopped by after their morning walk to say goodbye to us. Dunkin got to go with them today...so I had my last snuggle with the little guy. He's in the carrier that Suzanne wears when they take him. So after big hugs and handshakes, they bid us farewell. It was absolutely wonderful spending time with you both...thanks so very much for all your hospitality!

A few minutes later, they were gone...and we continued with our pack up. It was about 9:45 when we pulled out of the RV park...and headed north on highway 97.
We crossed the bridge over Okanagan Lake, drove through Kelowna (which seemed to take forever!) and continued up the beautiful Okanagan Valley...

There is a strip of land that divides Wood Lake, to the south and Kalamalka Lake to the north...

Kalamalka Lake...

 Campground below...

We're approaching Vernon, BC...

After driving through Vernon, highway 97 winds it's way northwest through some very cool countryside...and small towns. Lots of history in some of these old buildings...
 We drove by Monte Lake...
...and then went down, down...
...eventually meeting the Trans Canada (Hwy 1).
We headed west along the Thompson River towards Kamloops...

In Kamloops, we joined highway 5 north...going through an area around Barriere that had had a massive wildfire in 2003 (wow, was it that long ago?!)
We're following the North Thompson River now...

It was going on 2:30 when we pulled into North Thompson River Provincial Park...with our fingers crossed that we'd find a site big enough for us. As it turned out, we backed into the first site we came across that was big and then decided to walk around the loop to see if there were any other ones we'd like better. Nope, we'll stick with site #47. It was big and seemed to be more open for the satellite dish and some solar sunshine. Now as we were heading into the park we had a bit of a scare. Steve had noticed a warning symbol was lit up on the dash. NOW WHAT! Steve got the manual out and it turns out it was a change oil symbol. Sheesh! We already had that done before we left. The light has never come on when we're do for a service.

We unhitched and got all set up...and even managed to find the satellite signal. It was really hot (especially while working)! Time to relax outside in the shade!

  2. Man, you guys have been busy! When I first saw that picture with you and the dog, I thought Steve had lost his mind and you guys got a puppy!

But then I read the blog and saw that the dog was someone else's and then saw a picture of Steve with a beer and knew all was right in the world.....
