Sunday and Monday, May 8 and 9, 2016 (Fort Camping, Brae Island Regional Park, Fort Langley, BC)

Sunday morning was one of those mornings where time just slipped away...we were up before 6:30 and next thing I knew, it was after 9:00. How did that happen?!

After a shower and breakfast, Steve waited impatiently for our neighbours next door to finish packing up and leave...he wanted to off-load the quads to wash them and needed their site to do so. They finally pulled out and Steve got busy. I got myself cleaned up, did the dishes and then settled at the dining table to work on our blog.

We'd like to wish a very Happy Mother's Day to all the Mothers out there! Late morning, I had a phone call from Rob wishing me a Happy Mother's Day! Great talking with him!

Once Steve finished washing his quad, it was my turn to do mine. We had both quads washed and reloaded back into the truck by 1:00...one thing crossed off of our "to-do" list!

At 1:30, Jim, Barb, Steve and I hopped in the car and headed into Coquitlam to visit Chris and Angela...and celebrate Mother's Day (and Father's Day since we won't be here next month). We enjoyed a late lunch/early dinner...along with a couple of brews...at the Townhall Public House. Afterwards we went back to Chris and Angela's for dessert and cappuccino. Thanks for a great afternoon!

Back home, Jim brought over his latest purchase...a Campfire-in-a-Can...to try it out and we enjoyed one final cocktail together...

Monday morning we were outside shortly before 8:00 to say goodbye to Jim and Barb. It was so good spending time with you and being able to show you around our part of BC. Thanks so much for the bottle of Espresso Vodka (our favourite after dinner drink) and dinner...very thoughtful, but not at all necessary! We wish you safe travels on your summer adventure to Alaska and look forward to seeing you again next winter "down south"! You can tag along with them at jimandbarbsrvadventure.

After big hugs...they were off...and so were Steve and I. We returned the rental car to the Abbotsford Airport and then dropped the truck off at Gold Key Isuzu...time for a service AND another "squeal" fix.

We were driven home by the courtesy shuttle...looks like we will be without "wheels" for a couple of days...and then it was time to get to work.
Steve got started on the onerous job of washing the trailer. Today he managed to get the roof, slide toppers, and awning washed...that was enough. Guess what we'll be doing for the next couple of days? A big job...to wash and wax (hopefully) the fifth-wheel but it is definitely overdue!

While he was doing that, I hunkered down inside doing a bunch of paperwork...pay bills, recording expenses, etc. I also received a phone call from the campground office...they had a "pull-through" cancellation (the type of site we are in) for the long weekend, so we are able to stay for another week. YAY! I certainly wasn't expecting it because this is such a busy park...basically full most weekends. It takes the pressure off of us...we still have a bunch of things we wanted to get done before we have to leave the area. It also gives us more time to spend with the kids...we have another short trip planned back to the Island and we'll also have the opportunity to see Chris and Angela again.

    1. The cancellation was a REAL surprise! Certainly didn't expect it to happen, but it takes some of the pressure off of us to get things done.

      See you soon!

  2. Good to see Steve finally doing some work! I am surprised to see that he does not have a pint within reach while he is cleaning the rig. We landed just south of Dawson Creek today, going to spend a day or two in this area before moving on.
