Tuesday, April 5, 2016 (Nk'Mip RV Park, Osoyoos, BC)

It was another cloudy cool day today...what's up with that? The forecast had been for "partly sunny" and warmer today...hmmm...they got that wrong. But it is supposed to get sunny and warm towards the end of the week...sure hope so!

But one inside day was enough...time to get out! So shortly after 11:00 we walked down to Doug and Sue's, jumped in their truck...and off we went! We started by driving through Haynes Point Provincial Park...a small, but very popular campground during the summer months.

After that, we headed north towards Okanagan Falls and Blasted Church Vineyards...it had been closed last Saturday when we were on our wine tasting tour.
Today the gates were open but once we got up to the building, there was a sign saying they were closed until May 1 due to renovations...well, sheesh! Sue had checked their website and it said they were open. Oh well, we got a picture of the log building...and were able to take in the views from up on the hillside...

Next, we stopped at Tickleberry's for ice cream. Nothing like having an ice cream cone on a cool cloudy day! Delicious ice cream, though! Yum!

After wandering through Tickleberry's and eating our ice cream cone, we were back in the truck, continuing our tour of the area. We drove through Okanagan Falls Provincial Park...another small popular campground and much too small for us to fit into.

We drove by the church that the "Blasted Church Winery" is named after...

On a cool spring morning in 1929, a small crew from Okanagan Falls set off to a deserted mining camp some 16 miles away from home. Their mission: to dismantle an old wooden church and bring it back to Okanagan Falls.
The plan called for a controlled blast of four dynamite sticks inside the church in order to "loosen the nails". Odd as it may seem, the explosion spared the wood from damage during dismantling.
Save for losing the steeple, the plan succeeded. Now, the 120 year old wooden church stands proudly in its second home of Okanagan Falls.
  Really...dynamite...what an interesting story!

Heading back south, we "happened" to find a brewery in Oliver! Pappa's Firehall Bistro...so, of course, we had to go check it out!
Steve and I each tried one of their beers, while Sue had a glass of wine...and Doug, our "DD" had coffee...
But we all enjoyed an order of Nachos!
Before leaving, the guys went downstairs to check out the brewery. It was a very small operation...
We were back home before 3:00...thanks for another great afternoon showing us around the area, Doug and Sue!

Steve immediately changed into his sweats and settled in his chair to watch "his shows" on TV. I decided to go our for a walk, so went down to gather Tucker and the two of us walked around the campground.

We all decided to pass on happy hour tonight (amazing as that may sound! LOL) and Steve and I just hunkered down inside for the evening in front of the TV...with the fireplace on. Hopefully, we wake to some blue sky and sunshine tomorrow...we were spoiled and are now missing it!
