Thursday and Friday, March 3 and 4, 2016 (Fortuna De Oro RV Park, Yuma, AZ)

Thursday morning my dental appointment was at 11:00, so we headed off to Los Algodones at 10:00. As usual, we were a few minutes early but didn't have to wait long before I was called in...and about an hour later, I was done. Whew...round 2 done!

One thing I found was that the freezing didn't seem to last too long, so we stopped for tacos and beer at a popular sidewalk stand...and even managed to snag a table to sit at! Steve had shrimp tacos and I had fish tacos.
On the way back to the border, we stopped and picked up a bottle of Brandy Alexander (Steve had tasted a sample yesterday and thought a bottle was in order), along with a bottle of Kahlua. The border crossing was a lot busier today than yesterday but even with the lineup, we were through in about 10 minutes.
We're through the border crossing and walking back to the parking lot...

It was going on 3:30 when we got home, We immediately went to the pool to join the others for happy hour. Left to right, around the table...Mike, Dawn, Deb, Gary, Red, Pam, Kelly, Bill and me...

That night Bill and Kelly invited everyone over for a movie night outside. We all gathered in front of the TV at 7:00 and watched The Intern...a great movie, and so fun sitting outside watching it!

With our 3 free nights over with, Friday morning Pam and I walked down to the office to pay for additional nights. We decided to pay for 2 more nights...that would give us one day without having to go to Los Algodones, allowing us to take advantage of the facilities here to get some chores done.

Although my appointment today wasn't until 1:00, we decided to head down a little earlier so that I could get my hair cut. Bill and Kelly were leaving today (returning to Quartzsite), so we said goodbye to them and were off by 11:00.

I took a few pictures on our way to the border today. The Yuma Territorial Prison...
The Colorado River...
The Quechan Casino Resort...
Crossing the Colorado River...
Entering the parking lot by the border. Wow...it's a lot busier today!
Not knowing where to go for a haircut, we stopped at our dental office to ask Juan for suggestions. He said the shop next door wasn't bad but Juanita's, a couple of blocks away was very popular. There was about an hour wait at the hairdresser next door, so we decided to walk to Juanita's. The shop is at the end of this cool little courtyard...
Steve's sitting in the courtyard waiting for me...
A thirsty pigeon landed beside Steve...

I was taken in right away and about a half hour later, was out with shorter hair...much shorter than I had wanted...oh well, it will grow!

We wandered through the streets...

One of many busy restaurants...
And arrived back at the dental office just before 1:00. It was one of the dentist's birthday and they had a cake...so Steve was offered a piece...
...while I was given some cookies in the shape of a tooth to have later...

About a half hour later, we left the dental office...with my two new crowns. Since I couldn't eat or drink anything for an hour, we didn't stop for lunch and headed right for the border. The line up today was really long...it took us about 40 minutes to get through.
We stopped at Walmart for a few things...and then fueled up the truck. All I can say is Wow! $1.68/gallon! The fill up (well, the tank still about a quarter full) only cost $117...pretty darned nice when you're used to it costing at least 3x that amount!

As soon as we got home, we changed and headed to....you got it...happy hour at the pool! Joining Steve, Gary, Deb, Red, Mike, Pam and Dawn...

There was a good band playing today...
The Happy Hour bar...Deb and I...

And dancing...that's Red and Pam out there.

Another fun time at the pool!

    1. Thanks! A bit shorter than I wanted but it's probably fit the best.
