Today is the big Fun Fly Airshow at the RC Airfield in Quartzsite so Steve was ready at 9:00 when Harry picked him up...they met Red and Rick there. So, today's post is full of pictures Steve took at the show (just a warning...LOL!)
This was the third year Steve has attended this show and the weather for a change was perfect...calm and warm...
P-51 Mustang...
P-47 Thunderbolt and a P-38 Lightning...

An attempt at a heart for Valentines Day...
Red and Rick...where's Harry?

P-47 Thunderbolt...
Lost power on take off but made a nice forced landing with only a little scuffing on the cowling...
Never seen an RC airliner before...

Electric jets...
This one has it's navigation lights on... (Click to enlarge photo)
De Havilland Mosquito...

P-51 Mustang...

P-38 Lightning...

This guy was a great stunt pilot...
Hovering like a helicopter...

After putting on a great stunt show we couldn't believe it when he crashed into a bush on landing...
Luckily he was going low and slow so there didn't appear to be much damage...

Japanese Zero...

F4U Corsair. Unfortunately Steve never got a good photo of this beauty. It collided with another plane and fell to the ground in dozens of pieces...

It was a great show. Red is a member of the Quartzsite Desert Flyers Club so treated the guys to the free members only hot dog lunch. Thanks Red! A couple of real F-4 Phantom Fighters just down the road from the RC air field...

While he was gone, I puttered around inside and then took Daisy (I was looking after her today while Barb and Jim take a day trip down to Los Algodones) for a walk. Afterwards, I settled outside with my crocheting.

It was going on 1:00 when Steve got home from the show. When Harry dropped him off, he went across to see how Earl was making out...he and Eric were changing some front end parts on his quad...

Then he immediately loaded the empty propane tanks into the truck and headed off to run a few errands in town. Daisy and I had a few little walks...she didn't want to venture too far away from home...always keeping an eye out for mom and dad's return.
No kissing!
Around 4:30 Daisy got her wish...Jim and Barb returned. Next thing we knew we had an impromptu happy hour at our place...me, Barb, Lisa, Dino, Red, Pam and Jim...

Just before 6:00 our gathering dispersed...everyone heading home for dinner. We settled in for the evening watching TV...with windows and door wide open until bedtime. The end to another day in the Arizona desert!
