Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday, January 19, 20 and 21, 2016 (La Posa South LTVA, Quartzsite, AZ)

The temperatures here in Q are finally starting to warm up...we have actually been able to wear shorts and flip flops!

After playing for the last couple of days, Tuesday was chore day. So after breakfast, Steve got started outside...dumping the tanks and filling the fresh water tank. While he was doing that, I did some cleaning inside and then got started on some laptop work...bills, banking, blog, etc.

Ray and Deb stopped by for a final goodbye before they leave the area. Upon leaving here last Saturday, they only went as far as Plomosa Road to camp and visit with friends for a few nights. But they are hitting the road tomorrow. Safe travels, guys!

At 4:00 the group of RV-Dreamers started to gather over by Trace and Lee's place...unfortunately Lee wasn't home - he's working in Phoenix this week. Red and Pam had a freezer full of fish (Red had a busy summer fishing for Crappie!) and they were frying them up. Unfortunately, clouds had moved in...and after such a beautiful sunny day!
Tracy is making onion rings and it looks like Jim and Red are tasting some of the fish Red just cooked...

Time to dig in!

And we had another stunning sunset...

What a great evening...meeting new friends and catching up with old...not to mention lots of great food!

Wednesday was a beautiful, warm day. We were out before 8:00 going to the laundromat to get the washing done before it got too busy. Jim and Barb also left bright and early for Yuma and an Agricultural Tour and since they would be gone for the day and couldn't take their dog Daisy, we offered to go over to their place throughout the day and take her out for piddle breaks.

Once we got home from the laundromat, we had breakfast and then I started hanging the clothes on the line.. Steve captured some pictures of this fellow flying over...he really comes quite low over the RV's...

Shortly after 1:00, Ray and Anne, fellow BCer's and also from Vancouver Island popped by for a visit. Ray has a couple of sites that may interest some of you... Love Your RV  and RV Happy Hour. Anne is an accomplished photographer and writer so if you're into learning more about photography and taking better photos check out her site @ Anne McKinnell.com

We had a great few hours chatting and catching up with them (it's been a couple of years since we last saw them)...and then they headed back to their rig at Plomosa Road. As they were leaving, we had more friends stop by...Rob and Peggy had just returned from their 6 week trip RVing down the Baja to Cabo San Lucas. We were very curious about their trip and spent the next hour or so hearing all about it. They had a wonderful time...with absolutely no problems. Wow, what an adventure! This is something we would like to try one day.

Thursday morning we had had our coffee, breakfast and showered...and were on our way by 8:00. We are heading to Parker to take my quad back for servicing because it is still leaking oil from the vent tube. As we left, we took this picture of all the rigs already lined up at the sani-dump.
The area has absolutely exploded with RVer's in for the big RV, Vacation and Sports Show. It always gets busy around here the latter half of January when the Show is on but we think there are far more here this year...possibly because of the lower fuel prices, more people are travelling??

We dropped the quad off and then hit Walmart and Safeway to stock up. By the time we were finished with that, it was about 11:30...time to find someplace to go for lunch. We had heard of a spot right on the Colorado River...Pirates Den, so we decided to give it a try. Here's a view of the river as we drove along Riverside Drive...
Oh look, there's been a light dusting of snow...LOL! The area through this stretch was pretty white from the salt deposits...
Entrance to Pirates Den...
Here we are...the parking lot is still pretty empty...
A very cool looking spot...
There's an outside bar on one side...it doesn't open until 3:00...
We were the first ones to arrive in the restaurant for lunch and chose a spot out on the deck...

Steve ordered Philly Cheese Steak with Sweet Potato Fries...the first time that we've seen sweet potato fries dusted with cinnamon and sugar. Very different, but tasty...however, I think I prefer the savory kind served with chipolte dipping sauce. And I had a wonderful Cobb Salad.

That's the replica Pirate Ship that is usually moored in front of the restaurant but we were told that they moved it today to do some maintenance on it.
A paddle boarder crossing the river...
The owners of the property not only have the RV park adjacent to the restaurant and bar, but also an RV park on the other side of the river (California side)...with a free water taxi that will take guests back and forth...
We had a delicious lunch at a very reasonable price (each dish was $11.99...okay, we won't say what that would be in Canadian dollars right now)...we would highly recommend this spot for anyone looking for a good meal in a very scenic area! Steve took a few more pictures on the way out...
Cool ride!
The outside bar taken from the parking lot...
Looks like it would be a happening place...
A nice little protected marina...
We decided to take a drive through the RV park...
They have them packed in there pretty tight...no thanks!

I had contacted friends (who happen to be staying at an RV park on the other side of the Colorado River) earlier to see if they were available for a visit. While we were having lunch, Karen responded, so once finished, we headed off to visit fellow RV Dreamers Bob and Karen. We drove back through Parker, turned west, crossed the Colorado River and then headed north on the other side. The river is looking pretty low here...

View from the California side of the Colorado looking at Parker...

About 6 miles north is Emerald Cove RV Park...

Bob and Karen have a nice spot backing right onto the river...

We had a short, but nice visit with them...we'll see you next week at the RV-Dreamers Mini Reunion!

When we got back to Parker Yamaha, my quad was ready. They are at a loss as to why we still had a leak. They called Yamaha and were told to check the vent tube for kinks or debris so they really couldn't do much other than clean and blow out the vent tube. We know we have the proper amount of oil in the differential, and it's not getting hot. It's a mystery to all, so all we can do is keep an eye on it.

Steve loaded it back into the truck...and we were off back to Q.

It was about 4:00 when we got home. I put the groceries away while Steve off-loaded my quad from the truck. Once that was done, we walked across the road and enjoyed a cocktail and visit with Earl, Allison, Eric and Janet.

We are all heading into town tomorrow morning to take in the RV Show...looking forward to seeing what, if anything, is new this year.
