Wednesday, August 20, 2014 (Peter Hope Lake Recreation Site, Quilchena, BC)

WOW....today's blog is post number 1000!! Amazing!

Steve was out on the lake again this morning...another beautiful start to the day...that bridge goes over to seven cabins...

Today was another shopping day for the girls! YAY! It was about 11:00 when Deb and I headed into Kamloops...we had a number of errands to run and lots of shopping to do!

Once back down to Hwy 5A, we turned right, continuing north. The scenery along this highway is just beautiful!

Before going into Kamloops, Deb wanted to check out another recreation site at Edith Lake. The road was paved part way with about the last four kms gravel. It was a bit lumpy in spots and not as wide as the gravel road into Peter Hope Lake. Edith Lake has a small campground...only twelve sites, I think. It's a bit small with sites fairly close together. It would be doable for Ray and Deb in their motorhome and we could possibly manage it too but I would be worried about maneuvering our rig...there would be a tight corner to get out.

I took some pictures and then we headed back to the highway and towards Kamloops.

Our first stop was Surplus Herbie's where Deb picked up a bunch of fishing stuff for Ray...lucky fellow! Since we had to wait for the fishing line to be put on the new reel, we went across the street for lunch. After filling up at a Chinese food buffet, we picked up the reel and continued on to do the rest of our shopping with stops at Outdoors Wholesale, Costco, liquor store and finally Save-on-Foods...did I forget anyplace? Don't think so...

Then it was time to head back to the lake. There were some really ugly looking clouds coming in...

It was after 4:30 by the time we got back. As we pulled in we noticed that the big fifth-wheel that was next to our site (that had the broken down pickup) was gone and a truck and trailer had pulled in two sites down. After putting all of the groceries away, Ray and Deb came over...time for happy hour!

After dinner, Steve headed out for an evening fish...it was so calm...a gorgeous evening but unfortunately no bites.
