Thursday, January 9, 2014 (La Posa South LTVA, Quartzsite, AZ)

It was another gorgeous day here on the Arizona desert...a great day for a quad ride!  We all met over at Art and Jan's place.  There were seven of us going out today...on 5 ATV's...Bob, Earl and Allison, Art, Steve, me and Sue in the Rzr side-by-side with Bandit and Coco. It was just about 10:30 when we waved goodbye to Jan...she had decided not to join us today.

Earl and Allison...Bob in the lead...

We stopped at the top of this hill to look for a geocache that Earl and Allison had hidden.
 Beautiful view from up here...
Found your cache, Earl and Allison!

 On to the next!

Earl is looking for a spot to stash a geocache...

I found another geocache! Earl, Allison, Bob and Sue had found most of the geocaches along our route today but allowed us to stop and find them...without any help, I must say!

Arriving at Dripping Springs...

Steve, Sue and I (along with Bandit and Coco) went for a walk to the Springs. Not a lot of dripping going on...

Smells like Bats have been in here!

There are also petroglyphs there...

 Like this guys tire cover...

Time to search for more geocaches...

While they wait...there were 3 geocaches that Bob and Sue had hidden along this section of road...
 ...we found all three...

And then it was time to carry-on...such beautiful country...

We stopped for lunch at Apache Chief Cabin...

It says...Moe...I am no Moe...May I rest in piece
  Inside the cabin...

Me, Allison, Bob, Earl, Sue and Art...(Earl and Allison belong to the Comox Valley ATV Club, Bob and Sue are with the Prince George ATV Club.)

After lunch, I headed off in search of a geocache that all of us tried to find last year but weren't successful. A few minutes later, Steve and Earl came out to help.

And I finally found it (thanks for the encouragement, Earl!) Steve is above me on top of the hill...

...and Earl is below me (he took this picture).  You had to be a friggin mountain goat to find this one!

Apache Chief Cabin as seen from the geocache area...

We are all searching for this geocache that was placed just before the start up Hogback Trail...

 Cold and sleepy Tarantula...

"Eagle-eye" Allison found the cache. Can you see Coco (hidden behind the rock)?

Time to carry-on to Hogback Trail. The start of it (from the north end) has a very steep rocky start...not my favourite spot (but I made it)!

Great valley views...

We managed to get a group picture... Sue, Bob, Steve, Dianne, Art, Allison and Earl...
And away we go...

 "Hogback"...

This trail is the shortcut down from where we stopped up top for the view (and our group picture)...it isn't recommended...

Rush hour on Hogback Trail...

 Quartzsite in the distance...

We arrived back home at 4:00...another awesome day out on our quads...with great friends! After going home to unload the quad cargo boxes and dust ourselves off, we met back at Art and Jan's place for happy hour. A perfect way to end a wonderful day!
