Thursday, November 14, 2013 (Wine Ridge RV Resort, Pahrump, NV)

Another gorgeous day...just love it!  We got out for a walk this morning and took some pictures around the park.  This is the lower pool area...

We walked down to the road and took a picture of the entrance to Pahrump Valley Winery...

The gardens and vineyards...

We stopped in for a moment and decided to come back in about an hour for the 11:30 tour of the winery...and the wine tasting too!

We continued our walk around the RV park...Steve climbed up onto a hill and took this picture from the far southeast corner of the park...
...and looking the other way, east towards the mountains...
Good sized sites here...that's the back of our rig...
Another view of the lower pool area...
Badminton/Pickleball courts...

In addition to being an RV Resort, they also offer cottages...an inexpensive alternative to a hotel plus it's a great spot if you have friends or family joining you and they don't have an RV.
We really like this place and will definitely be back. You're on the outskirts of town, no railroad on one side and highway on the other, it's very quiet and the black sky at night is full of stars, friendly staff and RV'rs plus you can ride your ATV from your site...all for $12.00 per night!

How about that speed limit!

We returned to the winery shortly after 11:00...just enough time to partake in their complementary wine tasting of seven wines. Unfortunately we were so into the wine tasting we forgot to take a picture...

Then it was time for the tour lead by Karen...very informative and interesting!
We learned why rose gardens are planted near vineyards...it's a first indication of an aphid infestation.  The roses are watched and at the first sign, they can be treated before the vines are affected.

After hearing the history of the grape varieties (they only grow 2 varieties here...the rest are from 2 local vineyards and the juice for white wine is from California)....and learning so much more about the vineyard (harvesting, etc), we went inside to the awards room...they have won over 375 awards!

Then Karen took us into the room where the wine is made...and eventually bottled. Yes, all onsite in this single room...

White Wine in the big silver vats...

Karen demonstrated the bottling and corking process...

After the tour, we wandered around a bit more, looking at pictures and reading all the memorabilia on the walls. The helipad in this picture is where the current upper pool and spa are now. The Restaurant menu was also very reasonably priced...

Another look at the tasting bar...wish we could have another round :-)

Then it was back home where we spent a relaxing afternoon. I continued working on our blog trying to get it up-to-date as soon as possible while Steve read.

Just after 4:00, it was time to go outside for our happy hour and watch the sun go down.  The sunset was beautiful in both directions...east towards the mountains...

...and west...
It was starting to get a little chilly out...
Pink sky in all directions...

An end to a very relaxing day here at Wine Ridge RV Resort....ahhhh....

  3. We really enjoyed the area. If you get a chance check out Terrible's Lakeside RV Park. Not the Terrible's in town. Usually the best gas and diesel prices also. About 2 miles outside of town. Its an oasis in the desert.
