Friday, August 9, 2013 (Tenderfoot Creek Campground, Summit Lake, Alaska)

It was a cold, rainy morning here at Summit Lake...a good reason to stay snuggled in bed until 7:30. Needless to say, we didn't rush to do anything this morning...it was close to noon by the time we were ready to do anything.

The rain had let up somewhat, so with our umbrellas in hand, we decided to go for a walk to the Summit Lodge...1 km/.6 mile back on to the highway.

Inside the lodge...
The restaurant...

In addition to the lobby area and the restaurant, there is also a lounge, all contained within the main lodge.  After we wandered through there, we went to the other, smaller log building.  This housed a deli/snack and ice cream bar.  That's a huge Wolf hide!

Even though it was cool and rainy out, we decided that an ice cream cone sounded like a good idea. We sat outside on the deck overlooking the lake and ate our ice cream...

You can see our rig on the other side of the lake... (click on picture)

Nice looking log cabins...this looks like it has a few suites in it...

Time to walk back...there is a view of the lodge, at least the building where we sat out on the deck with our ice cream...

Once home, I got my book out while Steve puttered around doing a few maintenance things around the rig.  He decided to run the quads for a bit since it has been quite awhile...

Here is the view from the path to the lake back to our site...
...and to the lake...

It started raining just after 2:30, so we sat outside under the awning...I was reading while Steve responded to emails.  We don't have very good internet here but the emails eventually go through.

It got quite chilly, going down to 11C/52F, so Steve brought out the Campfire-In-A-Can and we sat huddled under the awning, while it rained, until we were just too cold...time to head inside!  We had a great evening watching our favourite DVD...the Eagles Farewell 1Tour Live from Melbourne!

  1. You guys have a great rig! I was curious, which spot did you guys stay in at Tenderfoot Creek in Alaska? (We live in Anchorage but have never been to Tenderfoot.) Thanks!
