Thursday, June 13, 2013 (Ten Mile Lake Provincial Park, Quesnel, BC)

We had our usual start to the day and by late morning, we were ready to head out for a hike.  We stopped to talk to one of the maintenance people about the "bear situation".  She said that there has been one in the area for quite some time but doesn't seem to bother anyone.  Steve went back to get the bear spray...just in case!

We started by walking down to the lake...this is the boat launch...

...and a view of the lake...

A fellow trying his luck fishing...

We thought we would start by walking the lakefront path.  Judging by the size of the day use area and adjacent parking lots, this place is pretty darned popular in the summer time!

We were walking along and all of a sudden I noticed a couple of deer...by the time we got the camera ready, they were on their way...

We continued to the end of that path and then found where it continued away from the lake.  That's when it really started turning into a hike, rather than a walk along the lakefront!  Even with a trail map, it was very confusing with old trails/roads going every which way...it was quite confusing, but we figured as long as we kept to the right, we would eventually make it back to the lake.  It was also quick mucky in spots...they have had a lot of rain this spring.

We made our way back to the lake and were walking through the parking lot when we came across more wild life...this little guy surprised the heck out of me...

We had a good hike...not sure how far we went because I forgot to set my tracker.  But we were glad to sit down and relax.

Later on, Steve decided to get his fishing rod ready and go down to the boat launch to do a little fishing.  He wasn't gone all that long...and this is why...thick, dark clouds had rolled in and it had gotten very windy. These boats headed for shore shortly after this picture was taken.

The weather is very bizarre...it looked like we were in for a huge storm but it wasn't long before the clouds had broken up and some sun was actually shining.
