Saturday, November 3, 2012 (Lake Havasu State Park, Lake Havasu City, AZ)

Today was a very relaxing day.  Steve headed out shortly after 8:30...slathered in suntan lotion and armed with a bottle of water, his camera, my camera...and a chair slung over his shoulder.  He was going to spend the day watching the London Bridge Seaplane Classic.

I enjoyed the morning by myself...puttering around—doing some banking, updating our blog, etc.  Just before noon I thought I would walk over to the day use area and take a look.  I found Steve easily and watched the planes for a few minutes...before they stopped for a lunch break.  We walked back to the fifth-wheel and Steve had lunch...and then was off back to resume his spot watching the show.

I spent the afternoon outside in the shade reading my book (I probably closed my eyes for a bit too)...and that was pretty much our day.

Steve took tons of pictures...(Click on pictures to enlarge)

The next 5 pictures are of the Canadair Water Bomber...Steve's show favourite...

This plane spiraled out of control...

Crash recovery team...

An unhappy pilot. Steve said he would be devastated if he put in the hours to build one of these and crashed it...guess it comes with the territory. Actually he speaks from some experience. As a kid he said he spent many hours building his first plane from Balsa wood and paper kit...the type flown from a handle with two strings going to the plane. On his first flight the plane did a single loop straight into the ground smashing into many pieces.

Two military choppers flew over...real ones...

There were a few take off and landing crashes...

A few model boats and helicopters put on a show while Steve was away for lunch...

This Jet Boat does a day trip from Laughlin to Havasu City...

This Hang Glider passed by...

This plane was in a mid air collision but managed to land safely before it's right wing fell off.  Steve said he missed the collision but saw lots of wreckage from the other plane fall to the water where it was quickly scooped up with a fishing net. The pilot saved some wiring and put the rest into the garbage...

Apparently the damage looked worse than everyone thought...the plane was all back together when Steve was leaving...

Lots of planes for sale...
