Thursday, July 19, 2012 (Herald Provincial Park, Shuswap Lake, BC)

Well, today was the day...we had to get back into our routine of resistance exercises!  So after our usual coffee start to the day, Steve brought his portable weight set out and I pulled out my resistance cords.  Oh my, that was a bit tough...it had been awhile!

After a “big breakfast”, Steve got the backpack ready...he would be using his camera today so he packed the telephoto lens, along with water and we were ready to head out.

The hike into Margaret Fall is fairly short but absolutely spectacular!  It is very hot out today so the cool canyon hike was wonderful.  The pictures just don’t do justice!

Steep canyon walls wth lush vegetation...gorgeous...

The falls are just beautiful!

A group of people came in behind us and one of the young fellows went through the water into a cave behind the falls....

...and back out...

Personally, I think he was nuts!!  One wrong step on the slippery rock and if he didn’t kill himself, he would have hurt himself badly!  But he made it...whew...

Time to head back out...

After Margaret Falls, we walked to the trailhead of another trail that goes up to a viewpoint and then continues up the mountain, eventually crossing the creek that feeds Margaret Falls.  The views and the hike was great but quite honestly, I think we were nuts to do it on such a hot day.

The viewpoint...

We can see our rig from up here...

After the viewpoint, the trail continued up the mountain...

...to a bridge that crossed Reinecker Creek...

Steve stopped to splash water on his face before the trek back down...

We arrived back home at about 1:00...hot and tired!  We had hiked just over 5 miles/8 kms.  Okay, that is enough exercise for today!

Steve loaded the empty propane tank into the truck and we headed off to Salmon Arm.  In addition to the propane refill, we needed gas for the generator and Steve wanted a haircut.  We also needed to get cash to pay for more nights here at the campground.

After Steve got his haircut and I found a TD Bank, we did a little sightseeing around Salmon Arm...

...and then filled up the propane tank and gas can, and headed home.

After relaxing outside for a bit, the heat and the mosquitoes got to be somewhat unbearable so we headed inside, started up the generator, closed all windows....and got the air conditioner going!  Ahhh....

Tomorrow a cold front is supposed to be coming in with cooler temps and thunderstorms....
