Monday, August 15, 2011 (Mt. Fernie Provincial Park, Fernie, BC)

It was definitely cooler this morning with a mix of sun and cloud. We were trying to decide what to do because the weather looked a little “iffy”...and thought we would just go on a hike here in the park.  We’ll try that trail that we started to walk yesterday.

It was shortly after 11:00 by the time we had done our resistance exercises, had breakfast, gotten cleaned up, and were ready to head off.  As it turned out, the trail was just a short one that looped around and back to Lizard Creek...it took all of maybe 15 minutes.
When we left, we both commented on some very dark clouds off on the horizon...it`s amazing how fast they came in because as we got back to the campground, they were right over us.  Hmmm...maybe it’s a good thing that the trail was just a short one!  We walked to the park entrance to take a look at the big map to see what other hiking trails there were when we heard a big clap of thunder...then felt a raindrop.  We hi-tailed it back to the trailer as it started to rain...getting there as it really started to pour.  And inside is where we spent the afternoon...it really cooled down too...we ended up putting our sweats on and turning the furnace on!
I decided it was time to work on our budget...to see how we are doing expense wise...something I had been putting off for the past few months.  It`s much nicer just spending and not thinking about it, don`t you think??  Hmmm....well...that was a bit of reality check.  Steve read and then turned on the TV while I was having my fun...

It was just after 4:00 when Steve decided to go outside and get a campfire going.  It had stopped raining and the sun was actually trying to come out again.  I finished up and joined him in front of the fire.  Well, it wasn`t long before that sun that had come out was gone...replaced by another big black cloud...and yes, more rain with distant thunder.  So we moved our chairs under the awning and watched the campfire from afar.  It`s really quite amazing how fast the clouds come and go.
We managed another short stint back in front of the fire before heading inside...it was 6:00...time to watch the evening news and prepare dinner.

We had our usual evening watching TV...sure hope the weatherman is correct and the sunshine returns tomorrow...
